Hi - I have used with no bad reactions, just couldn't clean it off well. I use Desitin Creamy instead.
Hi Mom
Have any of you every used the Balmex Cream on your precious ones and had a bad reaction, I have always used it on my three year old and had no problems i swear it works but recently my brother tried it on my niece 2 1/2 and her mother said it had a bad effect on her. Need some feed back please.

Thanks Moms
The question was for my edification, more than anything else, I don't think the mom put any thing on but the child seems to be in less discomfort, i have passed the info on to my brother, so he is better informed as to what might be the cause and reaction. Thanks again for all help

Hi - I have used with no bad reactions, just couldn't clean it off well. I use Desitin Creamy instead.
I never used Balmex. I used Desitin and then switched over to Aquaphor, which worked better then anything else I could have used on sore tushies. It could be a yeast infection, or it could be that her skin is too sensitive for the Balmex. Aquaphor works great on all skin types, plus it gets absorbed into the skin, but still acts like a barrier between the wetness and the skin.
Hi J.!
I never could use zinc oxide based diaper creams on my kids either while most of my friends swore by them. I used A&D ointment and good old fashioned Bag Balm sold at feed supply stores. Sometimes you can get it in places like Walmart but not very often. If you're unfamiliar with the product it comes in a square green tin and is used on cows udders when they get chaffed and sore from the milking machines. I have a feeling that some of the same ingredients are in the A&D ointment too as they are the same texture and similar scent. All kids are different and it's basically trial and error with these kinds of ointments.
Hello,
I've never had a problem that I can recall, but I'm sure there's always that chance for a reaction with any kind of cream/meds.
Another question to ask - are you sure it's actually diaper rash? Consider trying a different type - I prefered Desitin.
Good luck
Triple paste has worked the best for my four.
I never liked any of the zinc oxide creams. A&D ointment works wonderfully.
Could be a yeast infection...does it smell like bread dough? My little girl gets them sometimes and diaper rash cream can make it worse. Clean the area really well with a warm cloth, allow to dry fully. I use either bag balm or Monistat cream. You only need to use a tiny bit of Monistat cream on the outside of vagina and anus, this usually takes care of it in one day. I apply it at night before she goes to bed with no underwear and a night shirt with no bottoms. Air is the best thing for yeast, yeast grows in moisture so drying it out is key. I used Desitin or bag balm for all diaper rashes. Bag balm is an old remedy that really works and I always have it in my house for chaffing, rashes, etc.
I haven't read the other responses yet, but it's possible that your neic's rash is yeast-based, and if so Balmex might make it worse instead of making it better. Suggest that they treat it as a yeast rash and see what happens!
yes, my son's skin was irritated by balmex too. we used triple paste and that was the best we found. he had some serious diaper rashes from thrush and food sensetivities so we tried practically every cream out there, and triple paste was the best. also the most expensive though.
i agree that it could be a possible yeast infection. however, im not an expert on diaper rashes, i lucked out. my 3 never really got any! if they did start breaking out, i would use some of the arbonne diaper rash cream. I LOVE THIS STUFF!!! ive had the same tube since my first child, and she just turned 5! you need such a little amount. plus, i noticed it getting better (and sometimes completely gone) with the first use!! if you dont know about arbonne, it is an awesome product for everything face and some body too!! (face washes and stuff like that) expesive, but highly concentrated, so you only need a little. if you are interested in this rash cream, let me know and i can help you get some!!! (i dont sell it, but know some people who do, and they are not pushy people!! just wanted to try and help! good luck to your niece!!
Balmex and Desitin are barrier creams- they do not heal the skin. I feel very strongly about these creams they use KNOWN Carninogens in them and are not good for your baby. Use Arbonne or Boudrouts Butt cream any thing organic or holistic is better than those products.
Different rash creams work differently with each child. The rashes never went away on my boys with the creamy kinds. I love A&D and it comes in generic which works just as good.
I haven't used balmex but i recammeng desitin it really work
it is also works for burns so my kids are older but i still keep a tube at home
forget Balmex.. go to Walgreens and get Boudreaux's Butt Paste or Balm.. I think you can get it at Target and Stop & Shop now too.. it's pricey, but a little goes a long way.. I swear by it! My poor son had D really bad his little butt was bleeding, that stuff made it pink in one day! you'll never go back to anything else!!!
I haven't used that brand, but I highly recommend Arbonne's diaper rash cream! Actually if you use the arbonne baby care praoducts you probabaly won't need the diaper rash cream. check it out at cthedifference.myarbonne.com L.
Hi J.,
I don't remember ever using Balmex, but I did use the Burt's Bees Diaper Ointment quite a bit - it works awesome!!
Jen
I personally have never used Balmex. I always liked Desitin (original not the creamy kind)it sticks on really good.
But has your brother tried using other brands? Buttpaste or Desitin, etc? It could be an allergy to something its made with. Maybe try just petroleum? My mother never used ointments just petroleum and she says we never had rashes.
iused to use balmex but now i use arbonne abc baby products they are wonderful. they are chemical free mineral free botanically based. if you want more info or sample go to www.myurbeautiful.myarbonne.com mother of 13 11 8 and 1 yr old with a home based business K. d
