One of my girls wrote on her new shoes with a ball point pen. I tried to get it off with a Magic Eraser. It lightened it from dk blue to bright purple and started erasing Snow Whites hair. Do you know of any other way to get pen off of white leather?
Also, can the tennis shoes that light up when kids walk be washed in the washing machine without damaging the lights? My in laws let the girls wear shoes without socks and they now stink like a teenage boys shoes! Help!

What can I do next?

Don't use hairspray - most now contain too low of an alcohol content. Use regular rubbing alcohol but gently, if soap and water didn't take care of it. As far as stinky shoes - baking soda and stuff some newspaper in them for a day or so - it works as a great odor remover. Then get some of those little sneaker balls they sell at Payless and put them in each night after wearing.

I can't help with the pen marks. However, I have washed light up shoes in the washer and the lights still work.

I know that Melaleuca oil (also known as Tea Tree Oil) is phenomenal about removing stains like that. I have removed permanent marker (sharpie pens) and color markers from many items around the house. Make sure to test a small area first!

I don't know about the light question ... but I see others do.

Good luck!

Oops, I didn't read the whole post before responding. ;-)
I've never experienced something the Magic eraser can't get out. Try spraying some Odoban in the shoes, it's a miracle worker on odors.

I don't know about the pen marks, but I have washed several pair of my son's light up shoes and they are fine. They come out super clean! I didn't put them in the dryer; I pulled the tongue out so they were 'open' and let them air dry.

When i have ink on clothes i always spray THE spot with hair spray before i wash it and it comes out. You could do that then throw them in the wash with a little bleach if they are white. Good luck, R.
