My son has mild eczema however his doc prescribed a 2.5% cortizone cream and then using Eucerin lotion all over the body twice a day. I've noticed using the Eucerin is just as important as the cortizone.
My 15 month old daughter has a really bad case of eczema on her legs. My other two children had it when they were babies, and the remedies I used for them aren't working. I have tried washing her clothes with dye free, fragrance free detergent, no fabric softener, cortisone cream, no frequent bathing (every other day or so), very gentle baby wash on hair only...nothing is working. any ideas out there?
thanks so much for the great advice! I have decided to take her off dairy to see if that helps. And the information on Arbonne is wonderful. I had received a set of the baby products as a shower present, and forgot about it! I got it out and will try it and keep doing the coritsone cream. if these things don't work- we are off to the doc!
thanks again ladies- this site is so great!

I have eczema myself and have tried may topical steroid creams prescribed by my dermatologist but they never fully cleared it up. Although I am usually more willing to put my faith in scientifically tested Western medicine, with eczema it is worth trying some natural and alternative remedies to see if they can work when other strategies are not. The one that has worked for me was recommended by my chiropractor: taking fish oil capsules every day. The Omega-3 is great for you in general and it seems to have helped my skin a lot. A lot of people give fish oil to their kids anyway for the added Omega-3 fatty acids. You can buy good fish oil capsules at Trader Joe's where the mercury from the fish has been removed so there's no fear of getting a lot of mercury from eating fish oil. Also, Dr. Andrew Weill, who is an expert in complementary medicine, recommends trying eliminating dairy from the diet for eczema. Not sure if that would help. Good luck! It's hard to beat eczema and must be very uncomfortable for your baby.
Try look no eczema from scarlett sage. Also have you checked for milk or other allergies. My son had severe eczema and it went away after i eliminated dairy from his diet.
My 13 month old son has had eczema horribly since birth. We do what you do, only bathe a few times a week etc.....I still have to use Aquafor almost daily. Once a week I mix it with hydrocortisone cream 1% and that helps. We also had to get a topical steroid cream for his arm/leg folds as they still bleed and stay bad. That cream has helped tremendously. I hate to use it since it is a steroid but once every few weeks seems to do the trick. I wasn't able to fix it on my own, although I did try everything on the market for it. I tried the stuff at the mall that's $$$ and it only made it worse because of the heavy perfume in it. You may have to get your doctor involved to solve it.
She may also have a food allergy....my son has eggs/peanuts and the dr said typically if they have eczema bad a food allergy will accompany it and could make it worse.
Good Luck!!!
Have the Dr prescribe Elidel or Arbonne carries a baby line of products that's absolutely amazing for eczema. My best friends daughter has had it since she was born and has tried alot, she just recently started with the Arbonne and the difference is amazing. I know there's mom's on here that sell it or you can go online http://www.arbonne.com/products/baby/wash.asp Gl~
A former roommate of mine had a daughter with this problem. She would get it so bad that she had open sores. You may have to take her to the doctor so that he/she can prescribe strong enough medicine to help with the eczema. Thats what he did and within a few weeks her skin started clearing up. No they had to put her on a strict regimine of cleaning and medication so you might want to be prepared for that. Hope your daughter gets better!
I would try to eliminate dairy from her diet if you can, a friend of mine did this for her son and it helped a lot, good luck

I have to give another plug to the Arbonne baby products (The wash and the lotion). They totally cleared up my daughter's eczema after nothing else worked (even the doctor's recommendations). Hope this helps! ____@____.com

Hi S.,
Have you heard of Mona Vie? My younger son has eczema and we have tried several of his pediatrician’s recommendations and there doesn’t seem to be a cause or a remedy for it. After three days of Mona Vie, his skin was completely clear! I give him an ounce in the morning everyday and he is looking good! Older kids (my 4 1/2 year old) would take 2 oz in the morning and adults 2 oz morning and afternoon.
Mona Vie is a whole food (acts like food in your body) anti-oxidant, multi-vitamin, essential fatty acid, mineral supplement. It is a juice made up of 19 fruits and has the antioxidant equivalent of 13 servings of fruits and vegetables. One of the berries in the juice is the Acai berry which has been getting a lot of hype lately and was called one of the Super Foods by Dr. Oz. Anyway, it worked for us!
You can't buy Mona Vie in the stores, it is sold through independent distributors. I sell it and I have seen business postings on this site.
Good luck!

Just wanted to add that I can show you how to get Arbonne's products at 35% off if you are interested in knowing how.
My daughter recently had eczema and, at 15, was miserable; she was embarrased, too. After trying to eliminate all that we thought it might be from her diet, changing detergents, eliminating perfumes, you name it, we tried the Baby Care line from Arbonne and it's working great. It's a botanically based product with no dyes, perfumes or animal products in it; if you would like more info., I can get it to you.
