You need to schedule an appointment with a doctor for October 1. Schedule it now, so you can get in on October 1. These symptoms are not good and the earlier you see someone the better.
Ladies,
I have been having this burning sensation on my breast for about 2 weeks now. It feels very similar to when you have a let down as soon as you've had a baby (you know? that feeling that burns/ hurts when milk is coming down) I'm starting to panick, I haven't even tried feeling for lumps on my breast. It happens at night mostly (it hurst so much it wakes me up) but sometimes during the day too. There is a bit of yellow discharge (sorry for the TMI) on nipples. the discharge started only about a week ago, and it hurts sometimes so much that I want to take tylenol...might try warm compreses.
I want to say, I know I"m not pregnant (or trying at all), I have 2 children, youngest one is almost 2, haven't breastfed a bit over a year. Not related to foreplay either (I can barely be awake after children go to sleep), I don't use contraceptives and I do have regular cycles.
What can this be? We are switching insurance and won't kick in until Oct 1st so can't even go to doctor. Anyone else has experienced the same?
thanks,
K.

Sounds almost like thrush. Get some Braggs apple cider vinegar from the health food store. Dilute the vinegar with a little water & apply with a cotton ball. It should clear up within 48 hours.
To be honest, I'd skip the insurance and go to an urgent care as soon as you can! Especially since it's been going on for 2 weeks already.....
I have not experienced it, but with the discharge at the nipple, I wonder if it isn't a clogged duct. If so, you will need to have it drained. May not be able to wait until Oct. 1. Try your local Planned Parenthood, they can probably help.
You need to be seen by a doctor ASAP.

I just experienced a similar situation. It started with mainly my left side being extremely tender / sore, hurting when I moved, if I was carrying something against myself, when I changed, showered, dried off etc....and the it was both, but much worse on the left. About a day or two in, I noticed what looked like a couple of whiteheads around the left nipple. We were out of town, and every opportunity that I had...in the bathroom, or changing clothes etc... I squeezed on the little white bumbs (I won't lie, hurt like h3**) until some whitish stuff came out. Each time that I had an opportunity I would do it, and it started getting easier, and for the tiny size of the little whitehead, I was amazed at how much stuff kept showing up and coming out, more each time! By the time that I got home two days later the little whiteheads had pretty much all but dried up. I went to bed with a damp washcloth on it, and the heating pad over my shirt, it never felt better. The next morning there was some tenderness, by the day after that everything seemed to be back to normal! Good luck with your situation, keep us informed of what you find out!
Burning not normal, yellow discharge not normal. There could be many things that are going on with your breast right now,it would be so wrong of me to give you a possible diagnoses. As soon as you get insurance call your Dr.or if you have a clinic in your area see them better yet a non emergency like Med-Assist can assist you.One thing is for sure you will want to have done at the Drs office is have your discharge put on a slide & sent to pathology,so many things can reveal what your going through on the discharge
yellow discharge is not leaking breastmilk... I'd see your Dr of choice.
First off, not TMI...
So, are you having let down that is exactly the same as when you used to nurse, and you are having a yellow discharge? Do you always have the discharge? Or just occaissionally? The pain is more frequent than the discharge? The pain started first, followed by the discharge?
Is nipple stimulation a big part of foreplay with your husband? If so, that might start your milk back up.
What kind of birth control do you use? Do you have normal cycles? Hormones could creating breast tenderness.
The hormones that maintain breastfeeding are quite strong and can remain in a woman's body for quite a long time. So if you are around another baby, even wishing for another, your milk could magically start to come back in.
I honestly don't have a clue, but I would recommend you call your local La Leche League since you don't have insurance coverage at the moment.
I have had painful let down several years after ceasing nursing while holding a newborn. But it did not continue on like yours.
Also, is the pain bad enough that you would take Motrin? Or try compresses? Or does it pass once you wake up?
