I am Looking to find babysitters mainly for weekend nights so my husband and I can go out. I would perfer high school/college age. I have posted my name at a few colleges and have had only one response. Wondering if there is a better way to find sitters. Also what is the going rate for 3 kids? $12 an hour?
I second Ellen's suggestion - sittercity.com is the way to go. I have had great luck finding some absolutely wonderful college girls on there. They are dependable, timely and all-around excellent caregivers. You get the most responses by posting a "job" in addition to making a profile. Good luck with your search!

My 17 yr old babysits for a couple families who know us through our church. She charges $10 an hour for 2 children so your rate for 3 is right on target
You might look into your local church youth groups.
www.daycarematch.com is a free local site - check it out. Sitters have their own tab on the site. Very easy to use.
Place an ad on sittercity.com .. it's not free, but it's worth it. Your membership is good for a year. I have had great luck with that site for nannies and weekend babysitters. Actually the weekend babysitters - I have had to sift through probably 50 responses everytime I posted for it. I have been able to get away with $10/hour.. there are quite a few that want to get paid more though. $12/hour should be more than enough to get a few good quality sitters.
