Baby Safe Bug Repellent?

Does anyone know of any bug repellents that are all natural or safe for a baby who is 5 months old? I'll be taking the little guy camping for one night and, although I have a mosquito net for the pack and play, I'd like to be safe when we're walking around. My pediatrician recommended any bug spray that has 10% or less DEET in it, but are there any without any DEET that work?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you all for your responses. I used dryer sheets and they worked pretty well. I didn't put them on my son, don't worry! I put them in my pockets and that seemed to keep the bugs far enough away. I am going to try the badger bug balm though because the smell of dryer sheets is a big overwhelming.

Sweet and Woodsy - a website - she is a nationally certified aromatherapist. She has safe bug stuff for kids - and bug bite stuff too.
No, it is not my site, and no, I get no recompense for referring her. She's a Mom who started a business to support her twins.

Good luck,

Burt's Bees insect repellant. My son has allergies, and I use that one for him. I even dilute it with water.

I always used Avon's Skin So Soft Bath Oil. I diluted it with water (50/50) and massaged it on. It smells nice but not too overpowering. Not sure if it works for ticks, but it really does work for mosquitoes.

We use Off Clip ons. They work great for us. No repellent directly on you or the baby.

We use Badger B. stick. It's certified organic and rated very safe by the environmental working group. I don't know if it's baby safe, but I looked and it doesn't say not to put on children. It only says not to put it on their hands.

It DOES work very well. I live in Texas, so it really gets put to the test!

This past weekend, my Hubby's SIL's mom was running around placing bounty drier sheets on all the cousins. (7 in all - both sides were visiting due to a baptism). Several of us were skeptical but Seemed to work....

I know I'd try anything once myself!

I bought Babyganics Natural Insect Repellent at Walgreens. It uses all essential oils, but still says "Do not apply to children under 6 months of age.

i wouldn't put anything on a baby this small, and certainly not dryer sheets. i always have one stuck in my hat when i'm working around the farm, but they repel insects because of the extreme abundance of fragrance chemicals in them. definitely not something i'd want touching my baby.
badger and burts bees have good natural organic ones, but i think your best bet is use the spray versions on fabrics near, but not touching the baby.
like the top of his hat when he's in the hiking backpack.

Badger makes a good one, and it's a finer mist than most spray bottles. I've used another one--I think it's called Armor Shield--also a pump bottle, but it doesn't spray as finely. I think both are available on amazon, and at health food stores. Our whole family uses them--they smell a lot like citronella and lemon.

OFF! Makes a clip on fan. It works great. Nothing to put on skin, and no scent.

California Baby makes one that is all natural and works well. You may need to reapply now and then. You can find it at Target stores in the baby section.
