Absolutely safe, good job of brushing or practicing the action. have fun! Deb
I have a 19 yr, and 17 yr old. Those were the good old days.
Hi,
My son is 8 months old now and has 2 bottom teeth slowly coming in. My husband and I have been brushing his teeth to get him used to the toothbrush (infant tooth brush with very soft bristles). We bought the baby orajel tooth & gum cleanser and my question is - is this safe and ok to use? the container says safe to swallow and fluoride free...
Thanks!

You're totally fine here, super safe, and great that you're starting this habit early - we had a heck of a time making it a habit in the early toddler years!
Take a banana peel it and freeze it. Can be a bit messy for baby but they love to chew on them and the coolness helps with the hurting gums. Bessides it's good for them to eat if they swallow. Good luck. P. B
It makes me nervous to use those things. I didn't use any toothpaste for my babies until they were 2 years old, then I got the all natural toothpastes from Trader Joes. It doesn't have a fun, sweet flavor, but my boys don't know any different. My boys are almost 4 years old and 2-1/2 years old, and they get perfect reviews from the dentist at every visit!
My father is a dentist and my sister is in dental hygien school. It is good to brush the teeth of babies and get them used to it. You don't want to use any product with floride until they can spit out the residue, you can get afluoride Overdose. The baby orajell and baby tooth paste and cleaners are not necessary. Just use water. One reason not to use the paste and cleaners is that they are sweet tasting and most likely the baby will just start sucking on the brush and get hooked on the sweet taste. My daughter is 13 montsh and we just use water on a brush and make sure to do a good job.
I'm sure it's fine. We have always used Tom's of Maine's Strawberry flavored fluoride free paste. I'm going to switch my 8.5 yr old to fluoride free also. The water is already fluoridated, they don't need more.

Totally safe, my dentist recommended it for my babies
Babies don't need toothpaste when they are that young. We were told to use a wet washcloth. When our daughter had about 5 teeth we got a soft toothbrush and used it with water. Didn't add the tooth gel till she was around 18 months and had a mouthful of teeth. I'm sure the Orajel is fine, as long as it is fluoride free (we use the Weleda gel and like it a lot). Just not necessary at this juncture.
yes its totally safe. i started using it when my daughter was 5 months to keep her gums clean. now i use the oragel training toothpaste that is also floride free.
It is very safe. It contains no flouride, which is safe to swallow. I was a dental assistant for 6 years and my dad was a dentist...so we know from experience what is safe. Probably the main ingredient in it is Xylitol, which is a type of cleanser...Xylitol is great for teeth and is found in chewing gums like Trident and Orbit. I'm glad you are brushing!!!
