M.D.
Kids will get teased for all sorts of names. At least this one is more normal than half of the ones at my kids school.
If you like it, use it :).
My husband and I are really struggling with names for our baby boy. I have recently fallen in love with the name Drake. He likes it but thinks he will get teased as a kid for it. What do you guys think? Is this a name that he will get teased for? The middle name will be Douglas.

I like it. I don't think kids would tease him. Usually it's parents that have more of an opinion than the kids.
I like Drake, and don't think he will get teased. In my daughters class there is a boy named Kasyn which is different, he doesn't get teased at all. I think kids just accept other kids names early on and don't think twice.
If there's a bully in school he/she will tease about a name, a shirt, a hairstyle, whatever works, and it won't matter what his name is!
Go with you gut and don't worry about what other people think. And you never know, there may be 5 other Drake's in his class :-)
I'm not a fan of the name, but not because he will get teased. What is it about that name that you love? You could also go with Blake. It's very similar, but a little more "mainstream".
Blake Douglas sounds pretty nice!
I work in schools and you would not believe some of the names. I was in a classroom last year and the teacher called on "Outlaw". Seriously. On his birth certificate... per mom he was named after his father. Outlaw was the father's "street name". Somehow I don't think you're setting your kid up to be a doctor with the birth name "Outlaw".
I like it! Different, but not "Urethra" different! Lol
Kids will not even know who "Drake the rapper" is.
It's not my personal favorite but it also sounds pretty good and sounds like a more traditional name - so many kids' names these days sound like mom and dad just cobbled the name together out of random letters! It will also sound good on a teenager or an adult.
It's not that new either -- I knew a Drake when I was growing up many a decade ago. He was the only Drake back then of course and we all thought his name was very cool because we knew no other Drakes.
Why not Douglas Drake instead of Drake Douglas if your husband is concerned?
As a teacher, I've heard some weird names. One thing I've noticed is that kids rarely tease about names. The ones with the weirdest names often take great pride in how unique they are. So whatever your opinion of the name, I wouldn't let fear of playground teasing play a factor in the decision.
I like Drake. I don't know how well it flows with Douglas though...lol, I'm sure it will be fine with your last name. If you say it out loud a few times see how it sounds. If it flows then there you are...
Drake is good.
It's different but not too different (off the wall kind).
Drake is my daughter's favorite! He is Canadian and his real name is Aubrey Drake Graham.
Live without pretending
Love without depending
Listen without defending
Speak without offending

I like him and the name.
Drake is the name of a really hot hip hop artist right now. The kids won't know who he is, but the parents might.
If your DH doesn't like the name, it's time to move on, I think.
Why not put Douglas Drake, that way you get both names you want but in a different order - just in case
Kids will get teased no matter what. With that being said, I personally don't like the name. The rapper is the first person I thought of.
I think it sounds like a very strong, serious name, especially when you combine it with Douglas. I'd probably do a middle name that couldn't be mistaken for a last name. Since Douglas is a very common last name, it might be confusing for some.
ETA: Eh, I've been repeating it over and over again for the past 10 minutes and ya know what? I do like it, with the Douglas too.
Kids will tease, regardless. Since you are asking our opinion, it personally conjures up images of fantasy fiction for me. Like something out of Harry Potter and I hope he likes dragons. If that's what you're going for, then great. I think Drake Douglas is a little odd, but my SS's name doesn't really flow, either. His middle name was tacked on to honor a dying/recently deceased relative.

I would think the more likely teasing would be calling him DD.
Really there is no way to completely insulate your child against name teasing it is just a kid thing to do.
There is no name immune from teasing or kids rhyming it with another word. My name is J. and I had my share of it.
If your husband doesn't like that name, what is his choice?
I like it.
We like it and do not think he would be teased.
Sounds masculine.
I don't care for the name Drake, but I can't see why a kid would get teased for it. It doesn't sound like something else, or mean something that would lead to teasing. Maybe it sounds unusual to your husband, but perhaps he hasn't seen a kindergarten class list lately to notice that the names on it are not the ones that we grew up with. Schools are full of Presleys and Carsons and Braedens and Parkers, not just Michaels and Brians and Davids like when I was a kid in the 1970's, so I don't think Drake would be unusual. I LOVE Douglas. It's my son's middle name too :)
I do like that name, but I don't think I could name a child after someone currently very famous. Especially, if I don't really like what the person creates. (Drake, the rapper.) With that said, that doesn't mean YOU should feel the same way I do!!! I think it's a nice name, otherwise.
I think Drake is a fine name, very strong. Like others have said, kids will find ways to pick on a person if they feel the need, no matter what their name is. I have worked in the public for many years and have heard a lot of names that I would never use. I once met a lady named Cinderella and another young lady named Tweety (and yes her last name was Bird). I kid you not that was her actual name on the birth certificate. So I think you would be fine with Drake. :)
I love the name Drake. It is a very strong boy's name. And I wouldn't worry if Drake Douglas doesn't flow nicely, how often do you call them by their full name? If its what you like, then thats all that matters. Who cares what other people think? I don't see how he could get teased with a name like that. (And in another 10 years, I'm sure that Drake rapper will not even be popular anymore! :) )
I love Drake!! It was one I was considering. So cool!
I like the name a lot-it sounds strong, yet creative. My kids all have unique names and we haven't had any bad experiences. It can be a conversation starter as they get into their teens.
Congratulations!
When I hear it I think of a duck lol. But probably he won't get teased any more than anyone else. I don't like it too much tho honestly. Douglas is a great name
I like it. Depends what your last name is though. Drake Douglas is kinda a mouthful.
I first think of the rapper/singer guy, Drake, then Drake Bell from Drake and Josh. Both of whom are attractive dudes, so that's good.
I don't think he will get teased for being called Drake. I have heard names that I consider much worse than that! It's not my favorite, but it's not one that I would roll my eyes at either. : )
I would go with Douglas Drake though.
I don't think he will be made fun off based on the name Drake. I wouldn't be able to use it because I would constantly be associating it with the former degrassi high rapper dude whom I find kind of repulsive.
I don't care for it much, my nephews middle name is Drake. I think its a name that a kid would get teased for. JMO
I like it. I can't imagine why kids would tease him for it. It is unique without being "out there".
How about a compromise?
Douglas Drake
I like both names. it's not like some of the names my kids have there classes!! Yes, one is named Prince - yes - PRINCE!
I know a guy whose parents named him Nevets (Steven spelled backwards) then we have Neveah (heaven spelled backwards)...
I think Drake is a good name!!!
I think it's fine. It actually sounds kind of "macho" so I doubt anyone would tease him.
