with my first pregnancy, he was very active in the womb. GREAT sleeper and still is at age 2. with my now second pregnancy with a girl, she is even more active than my son was...wondering if an active baby results in a good sleeper or other way around? what's your experience?

What can I do next?

I felt more with my first, but they are both excellent sleepers, going through the night by 2 months, but I think that is only part the baby and the other part parenting.

all 3 of my boys were very active in the womb, they gave the nurses a run for their money when I had to have my NSTs, especially the twins, and you would think being all crammed in they wouldnt have enough room to evade the moniters, but yep they certainly did. now, whether or not there is a valid coorelation or not who knows, lets hope so huh!!

My youngest was crazy in the womb and we called her superbaby before she was born! She came out and yep, Superbaby all the way! She was a good sleeper, but she (unlike my 1st born) didn't want anything to do with cosleeping. She needed her space. She was holding her head up at a week old, pulled up at 6 months and was walking right when she turned 9 month old. She's almost 4 now and still a total handful, but a pretty good sleeper nonetheless.

I had a VERY active little guy when I was pregnant. He never stopped moving :p

He has been a FANTASTIC sleeper though! Since 3 weeks old he slept about 9 hours at night and around 5 months started sleeping 12 hours at night. Naps like an angel. Of course, we did use Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child by Weissbluth and I attribute all of his good sleep habits to that. So don't leave it up to fate and take it as she comes....CREATE a good sleeper!

In hindsight, my 1st 2 pregnancies were pretty calm during the day, more active at night... sure enough, both of my daughters had their days and their nights mixed up The first time, I was pissed, the nurses in the hospital could have given me a heads up, I was only 19!! The second time, I knew just what to do :)

With my son, my 3rd, he was mostly pretty active, but when he wasn't, it scared me to death. He would go 8 hours without me feeling so much as a flutter. I can't tell you how many time's I'd do the 30 minutes on my left side test, after chugging orange juice or sweet tea... and he'd still be in there calm... then I'd go for stress tests to make sure he's okay in there... I finally invested in a fetal doppler; as long as I could hear his heartbeat, I could save myself from going to the doctors! Even DURING birth the kid was giving me gray hairs... after my water broke, he squished his cord and the nurses couldn't detect him, almost had an emergency c-section... but he came out fine, bright eyed and alert... he's still my dare devil though ;)

Yes, I felt my second WAY more and he was hardly conscious the first two months! I never had to give CIO or any other method of sleep training a thought with him, he always did and still does NEED his rest. He is a kid that goes hard and sleeps hard, so no worries!!

From my personal experience that is not a sign of good sleep to come! Both of my children were really busy in the womb! My daughter now 3 1/2 sleeps like an angel and always has from about 4 weeks! My son on the other hand still wakes up 2 times a night to eat! He is 18 months! The thing is he has really bad reflux that even with meds wakes him at night! I hope that your second child sleeps through the night like your first! Just so everyone knows my son is not a chubby baby he only ways 22 pounds! The doctors say it is okay to keep feeding him in the night because he is still reall skinny for his height! Don't want anyone thinking that I am over feeding my child! Hope tis helps !

I had 2 boys who were extremely active in the womb, and 1 girl who was active, but just a little less than her brothers. All 3 kids woke frequently 3-6 times most nights until 18 months and then between 18 mos and 2 yrs it became 1-2 times a night. Oldest 2 sleep solid 10-11 hours since they have been 2 1/2 yrs old, but I'm still waiting for my 20 month old to sleep through the night. Consider yourself blessed with a good sleeper and I really hope you have another one just like it. Congrats on your baby girl! Nurse Midwife Mom
