Hi - Sony BabyCall monitors are the best! We have the same situation as you - two kids, two sets of monitors, sound machines - and they work great. Really long battery life, and they don't interfere with each other at all.
Hi all!
I am looking to get new monitors. I have the Fisher Price Lights and Sounds (I think that is the complete name) and they are HORRIBLE in our house. The static and interference is constant. They just stopped producing noise from the kids' rooms last night so I turned them off and of course that is the night my son wakes up crying and sick, and I don't know how long he was like that thanks to the monitors. So that was the final incident, I am ready to buy new ones. So I wanted some adivce/suggestions. I don't want to pay a ton since I need two sets. I don't need a video monitor. I have a 2 1/2 year old and a 14 month old who love to be in their beds and love to sleep, but I use sound machines so that they don't wake each other up during naptime and in the morning if one gets up before the other. Plus, my 2 1/2 year old just moved to a bed so I need to hear if she gets out of bed. I also go outside while they sleep so I need them with me. I have looked at the Graco Ultra Clear II 49MHZ Baby Monitor. Does anyone have these? Any other suggestions? Thanks so much for your help.

I can't recall what ours is called but the technology that blocks interference is DECT - make sure whichever one you get has that technology. We went through three sets before we got this one and it's been MUCH better than all the others. It was a bit pricier but it has lasted longer and is better. Our previous ones used to interfere with electronics and even picked up a neighbors conversation which I did not want to hear ;)
Hi Jennifer,
I don't have the Graco one you're looking at (although I considered that one when my first daughter was born), but I got the Graco imonitor which is the next model up. I bought it for around $80 at babies r us, but it looks like it's cheaper now. Here's a link: http://www.amazon.com/Graco-imonitor-Vibe-2-Parent/dp/B00...
Honestly I love it. I have never had interference and it works awesome, even distance-wise. My only regret is that I should have gotten the one with two bases as we had our second child 2 years later and I had to buy another monitor then. The second monitor I bought was by Safety first on sale and let me tell you, it is really crappy compared to the nice, clear digital sound that comes from the Graco imonitor. It'll do for now, but I definitely should have bought another Graco.
Whatever monitor you decide, definitely get one with two receivers if you have a large house or don't want to move them from room to room all the time. We kept one receiver installed near our bed and the other in our living room.
Good luck deciding!

It may not be the monitors but their placement that's causing the interference. They could be overly sensitive to tv's, radios, and phones in your house. You could try a different brand. You might get different results that way.
I just bought the Sony 900 Mhz Babycall for $53 on Amazon (w/ 2 receivers). I already have a digital Graco one, and as long as the Graco and Sony receivers aren't sitting next to each other it seems to be working great (when next to each other the Sony creates a buzz). Good luck.
I have Sony babycall and love it. Works great and the range is good. Both of my SILs have this one as well and a good friend of mine too. I believe it was around $50.
We have the First Years monitor w/2 receivers. We keep the base in the hallway between the kids rooms. It is quiet and picks up noises great.
I used to have a Graco iMontor but it died when my son was 10 months old. We now have the Sony BabyCall and its amazing! There are so many channels to choose from that you can have multiples of this monitor and they won't interfere with one another. The battery life is incredible and the range is awesome! Its got a setting where you don't have to listen to noise rooms but it kicks on when the baby cries. I would definitely recommend it!
The Sony ones are the best I have 2 sets of them. We originally purchased the Graco ones but got a lot of static out of them. The sony have multiple channel settings to avoid interference issues. I love mine.
