Baby Friendly Accomodations in Playa Del Carmen

I have a 14 month old that I plan to take on our trip to Playa Del Carmen. I've stayed here 5 or 6 times before, mostly in rustic, simple hotels.

I'm looking for a place to say that will offer a crib, will close to the northern beach in playa and will have a fridge for milk. I also wouldn't mind staying in a place with filtered shower water. Do any of you know how to bathe a young child in potentially contaminated water? I never had to think about this stuff before so I'm a bit worried.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I'm staying at the old Shangri La Caribe, right next to Las Palapas... enough people have been there with small children that I'm not concerned.

My doctor even gave me a recipe for pedialyte in case something should happen:

8 tsp sugar
8 tsp salt
1 liter water

I love, love, LOVE Playa del Carmen! But being a mother now...I'm thinking Destin will be our new vacation of choice. lol! Too much to worry about, going to Mexico with young children. Sorry I couldn't be of help but I do sympathize. Good luck!

We went to Playa Del Carmen with our (then) 15 month old. I found it to be very child-friendly. I actually took baths with her since we didn't have an infant bath, they turned out to be long, fun baths, and she did not get sick.

She had a great time at that water park place with the cenotes, can't think of the name of it.

I'm surprised people think Playa del Carmen is dangerous, Mexico City is dangerous, but certainly not Playa del Carmen.

why are you going with a young child to a place with all those dangerous possibilities?
you know, one bit of that water gets into your child and then all hell will break and you'll spend your time there nursing back to health. can't you find someone from your family to watch your infant?

The Palace Resorts have numerous resorts in Mexico including the Playacar Palace in Playacar. We usually stay at the Cancun Palace, but did stay at the Playacar Palace after the hurricane about 5 years ago. It was very nice. I'm quite certain that you can get a crib, and they have a small refrigerator in the room. The water is definitely safe to shower in, and to drink. Don't know if it matters, but if I remember correctly, there is only the shower; no tub.
Have a GREAT trip.

Check our Hotel Las Palapas. They are very children friendly. We just spent a week there with my sisters and their kids. I'm not sure about a crib but ask. And if you stay at a respectable hotel (like Las Palapas) you don't have to worry about the water (the last thing they want is for you to get sick). I was 5 months pregnant when we visited so this was a main concern. They do provide (complimentary) two huge containers of bottled water in your room and if you go through those they have a water cooler in the front that you can use to fill up the containers. The beach is beautiful and peaceful. The pool area is small but was not crowded when we were there (right after Christmas) and the hotel is located within walking distance of 5th ave which is a nice plus. None of my family (there are 20 of us) got sick.
