Baby Detergent - Helena,MT

I'm wondering when other moms stopped using baby detergent. My first child had sensitive skin and I had to use it a long time, my 7 month old doesn't seem bothered, but I'm wondering how early/late people normally go back to putting the baby's laundry in with their own.

What can I do next?

I stopped around the year mark I think. The big reason I seperated is more often there could be poop stains and those require a lot more sanitizing and you don't want to mix that laundry with other laundry in the house. I even would go as far as running a washer with bleach after my babies laundry if there was a poop issue on any of the clothes. Also food stains required more attention so I just kept their clothes seperate until after they year mark. The thought of fecal matter particles on our hand/body towels was enough for me to keep things seperate until the stools weren't as messy, hee hee.
If your baby is fine then I think it is probably fine to do it all together.

If you use a perfume/dye free detergent, you can probably do it safely right away. If you add fabric softener though, I would wait until s/he is about a year.

I use Country Save which I started using once I had a baby and was washing cloth diapers. I love it, I love that it doesn't have a fragrance or any residues and now use it on all of our laundry. I can't imagine going back to a commercial detergent.

We couldn't use Dreft with our first due to sensitivities. With our second, we did it until he was mostly past the messy eating stage (almost 3 now and still kind of there). The Dreft helped with stains. We use it with our littlest one now, but will probably stop when we run out. She's about 9 months now. We'll see how she is with feeding herself, but she seems pretty neat. Hope that gives you an idea.
