Baby-friendly Movie Theaters?

...if there such a thing. I recently moved to the Seattle area from the Midwest. In St Louis, several movie theaters had movie screenings especially for parents of little ones who wanted to see movies but didn't want to brave the afternoon/evening screenings when an outburst from the baby might disturb other patrons. These were often during the day on weekdays (which wouldn't work for me--I work 9-5, Mon-Fri) or late morning on weekends. Sometimes the lights were left on (dimly), and the audience was primarily other parents with little ones.

Do any of you know about anything like this in the Puget Sound area? I live in Seattle (Green Lake) but would be willing to drive outside the city if such a thing exists in Everett, Renton, Redmond, or wherever. Before mamahood, I went to movies every other week or so, and I miss it! But, my little one is getting mobile and often not content to sit quietly for 90+ minutes at a time.

Thanks!

The Metro Cinemas in the U-District has a crying room. Seats are first come-first serve. I've never used it so I can't say it's worthwhile. I would like to know if anyone has tried it.

Here is a link to a summary of Seattle area movie theaters with cry rooms and how to find out what movie is playing.

When my daughter was small we went to "Night at the Museum" because there was a cry room -- which we would've never picked otherwise -- and it ended up being much better than we had expected. :)

Yes Kirkland park place was doing them a year ago. Also Lincoln Square in Bellevue. They are all (or were) on a weekday though at about 10am I think so may not work for you.

I don't know if it still exists, but about 3 - 4 years ago it did. There is a theater in Kirkland Parkplace that used to have baby friendly movie times. BUT, I think they were baby friendly movies too. Don't know, but it's worth checking out. I'm sure you could google it also.

I know this wouldn't work for you because it's during the week, but I thought other moms might be looking on here to. Regal cinemas just started up their free summer movies again for kids. You can see the schedule and list of theaters here:

Otherwise, I'm not sure what the best theater is for crying babies, but I do know we have had great luck going to a movie right after work on a Monday or Tuesday evening or the earliest movie on a weekend. Not many people (sometimes only one other family on week days) and you can get there right before the movie starts and still get great seats.
