My son is 10 months old. He has recently decided he now longer wants a bottle. This would be okay if he drank out of a sippy cup but he doesn't like them either. Up until two weeks ago he was drinking 4(four) 8oz. bottles a day. Now I am lucky if he takes 12oz. We have a 3 1/2 yr old that he follows everywhere. I tried going into a quiet room with no distractions. No luck. He is crawling and cruising around on furniture. He drinks Similac Advance. Any ideas????

he already has 8 teeth ... i can't imagine more coming anytime soon

What can I do next?

My daughter is now 15 months old. She NEVER held her bottle and I didn't think I would ever be able to get her to drink out of a sippy cup. You need to try the sippy cups with the soft spout, they are wonderful...it feels just like the nipple of a bottle so it's easier for them to adjust. They have different brands if you go somewhere like Target...they have a big selection. But I got my daughters first cup at CVS....believe it or not it was made by 'Pampers' and it was spill proof. She was only on it a few months and now she is on a regular sippy cup with the hard top! Good luck but I believe this will help!!! : )

I would say put him in his high chair with a sippy of his formula. If he idolizes his big brother, have his brother sit at the table for meals/snacks so they are there at the same time. Also, leave out a sippy with a couple of oz in it throughout the day (a new couple of oz each hour) so that while he is cruising, he can take a swig. He is getting too big to be interested in lying down and drinking a bottle as a feeding.

Is he by any chance cutting his front teeth or have a sore throat? Sucking or swallowing may be painful regardless of whether it is a cup or bottle.

Keep trying the sippy cup. You can also use a regular cup too. I've given two of my children milk out of a regular cup at 9 months when they weren't used to sippy cups. I never used a bottle.
