My 5-month old always sleeps on his right side. He doesn't show any other strange preference for his right side, he moves both arms, grabs with both hands, and kicks with both feet. but when I put him down he ALWAYS rolls over to his right side... is this normal?

What can I do next?

Even adults have preferred sleep positions. I wouldn't worry, as long as all her other motor development seems normal and balanced.

So cute! I usually sleep on my left-then my esophagus is higher than my stomach and the food stays down! Please kiss his little head for me!

Babies often times are just as stubborn as adults. My friends son was the same way and he's just fine :)

My daughter always slept on her right side as well, until she was able to roll over and sleep on her tummy. She hasnt had any issues.

both of my boys were NICU babies and preferred their bellies to sleep. I could put them on their backs or sides and they would roll to their bellies.

I don't think there's anything wrong with this.

Around this time our baby also developeda preference for one side. It was his left side though. I don't think you have anything to worry about.

I like sleeping on my left side.

Its a preference.
It does not always mean, something.

My daughter was a co-sleeper for the first 15 months, until we transitioned her to her crib. Since she was used to falling asleep while nursing (always on her side) that is her prefered sleep position when she falls asleep in her crib. I lay her down on her back, just like they tell you to, to minimize SIDS, but she turns to her right side all the time and immediatly goes to sleep. I wouldn't worry about it. Seems like your little guy just feels most comfortable on his right side. Babies develope a routine when they learn how to sleep, and sounds like yours has included the "I must be on my right side in order to fall asleep" part to it.
