Attention Twin Mommies - Need Baby Shower Help

My friend is having twin boys and I need some help with shower ideas. She has waited a long time for these miracle babies, and I want to make her shower extra special.

1. Any good ideas for favors?
2. Any cute twin themed games?
3. Are there any products that mommies of multiples just cant live without? I was planning to get her some of my favorite "life saving" items that I loved for my son, but maybe the list of must-haves (or good-to-haves) is different for multiples?

Thanks!!

So What Happened?

Thank you all for your suggestions, especially that she may NOT want to have a twin theme. This didnt occur to me (probably because I'm not a mommy of twins!) but I think this may be the case as she has said she doesnt want to do matching names or dress them in matching clothes. Thanks for the "lightbulb moment"! I think we'll just stick with a boy theme rather than twins.

What I did for a shower idea for my sister was give everyone a letter of the alphabet and they had to bring a gift that started with that letter. Everyone seem to have fun and the creativity with it was wonderful. My sister wasn't pregnant with twins but she had fun with it.

I have twin boys and my shower was beautiful and special without the twin theme. You can really go overboard with the whole "twin" thing and I really wasn't into it. I wanted my kids to be more individuals and I almost never refer to them in RL as twins.

Another friend had a twin shower with the 'pea in a pod' theme and the favor was salt N pepper shakers. They were cute, but how practical were they for the guests? You could do twin cookies or something edible. I'm sure if you google you'll get lots of ideas.

I don't know of any twin games, just the regular old shower games, I personally like bingo to keep people quiet during gift opening.

I could not live withough 2 bouncy seats, 2 swings, and 2 high chairs. Most other things you really only need one of, like a pack-n-play with a changing table attached. I loved my baby sling, you can easily carry multiples with 2 slings or something like a moby wrap. I am pregnant with my 3rd now and already have purchased both as much haves for this baby.

The best thing you can do for her is prepare food and offer to help around the house after the babies are born - not to help with the babies, she'll want to do that, but maybe prepare a meal, clean, or do laundry.

I always use Belissimo Favors website- anytime i need favors- their products are really cute and great quality, but not too expensive. I never looked for twin things, but htey have a lot of choices.

One game we always do that people seem to like is to randon=mly set an egg timer while Mommy is opening gifts, who ever's gift is being opened when it dings gets a prize.

Good luck!

we call our twins "twinkies"... you could serve twinkies (keep in package) as one of the desserts - just kind of cute and whimsical. we had chocolate favors that said "two peas in a pod" and had the little pea picture.

another theme idea is dr. suess... thing one and thing two - or cute gift idea (you can purchase onsies or t shirts).

good luck w/ shower and getting #2!

Congratulations to your friend! How exciting!!! (In fact, I have one friend who recently gave birth to twins at home!)

I have a few friends who have twins and they all say that one of the things that truly saved their sanity was having a good sling! I have a few friends who even had 2 slings, so that they could carry both babies at once (they'd criss-cross the slings & have a baby on either side).

At the risk of this turning into a sales pitch, I have a baby sling company (THING-A-MA-SLING Custom-Created Baby Slings) and make slings to hold children from birth to 35 lbs. They are all machine washable & dryable, have built-in pockets and are designed to evenly distribute baby's weight over very large areas of muscles. This makes the slings very comfortable to wear and to be held in.

I am currently offering 10% off by using coupon code HH08 and if you live anywhere near Easton/Lehigh Valley, I offer free pickup (coupon code "local").

I've also heard that the "My Breast Friend" nursing pillow is great for breastfeeding twins at the same time.

Good luck to her! That's very exciting!!!

I am a mother of 3 month old twins! I love it but sometimes people get a little overboard with the "twin thing"
All I can say is that you never have too many diapers!!!
The only doubles I got where the Boppys and bouncy seats. the bouncy seats are great to feed two at once by bottles. My freinds talked me into getting two swings ( the travel ones are smaller) My girls hated them so I returned one.
Best advise when getting two of something is don't open both and keep the receipts. You can always return something to buy more diapers!! The poddie may be handy. I had to breast feed one and the other took a bottle. The poddie made it easier becuase she could sometimes feed herself if they wanted food at the same time
Tell her good luck

Dear D.,
My best advise would be to ask her first whether she wants a twin-themed shower. As you've already heard, some moms of twins are more geared towards individuality with their twins, and others favor twin stuff.
I don't really know about twin-themed games. However, at my niece's shower in November, they handed out sheets of paper with the alphabet printed down the side. The goal was to think of a word for each letter that related to babies & motherhood. (sort of like Scattergories, I guess) Anyway, my take on it for your situation would be to tailor it towards twins, maybe require two words for each letter ~ red racer, etc. Also, if you're interested, I have a baby word scramble game & a nursery rhyme game ~ the nursery rhyme is given as a clue that they have to figure out ~ triple felines who can't keep track of their clothing is "Three Little Kittens Who Lost Their Mittens"
If you're interested in the games, just e-mail me. Good luck with the planning. I hope you enjoy the planning, and your friend enjoys & appreciates your efforts on her behalf.

Do they still sell Double mint gum? Maybe you could use that somehow as a favor.

I've been making maganets... they kind where you take a glass gem and glue a pict to the back and then the magent. I'm not sure it's particularly twinny but that might make a cute favor if you packaged them in little mint tins.

I'd like to message you privately to ask about your list of life saving items for a shower i'll be attending soon.

Congrats to your friend and i hope you come up with some fabulous ideas!
