Attention All Recruiters NEED HELP

At two weeks - if he hasn't contacted you - which he should have by now - you most likely didn't get the job.

You sent a thank you note - GREAT JOB!!! I would call him today and just tell him you were checking in, still very much interested in the position and feel that you would be an asset to the office and tell him why again - keep it brief.

It is possible they are still interviewing candidates. Many places now are inundated with resumes from qualified candidates and they want to make sure they get the right one. However, two weeks is a long time to go without narrowing it down nor contacting candidates.

Reach out today. See what he says. Otherwise? no further contact? You didn't get the job. It bothers me when recruiters and hiring managers don't give answers. It makes us look bad.

I agree with Cheryl O. After two weeks, chances are you didn't get the job. With the economy how it is, employers have a choice of very well qualified candidates to pick from. That being said, someone in the office could have been on vacation. But the fact that he said that he was interviewing additional candidates does not bode well.

When I interview candidates, I make it a policy to get back with them within a week. No longer. If a decision hasn't been made, I will call and just let them know the update. I feel it is common courtesy.

Now, back to you...contact him. Let him know that you are interested in the position and available. Feel him out with how he response to your conversation. After this, if you don't hear anything, you didn't get the job and he is too chicken $hit to tell you. Big pet peeve of mine!!!!!

Be patient and continue to interview elsewhere. The interview process has a lot more steps in it these days, even for "low end" jobs it is because there are so many fighting for the same position. If you have no volunteerting or anything that sets you apart on your resume, you may want to start now. I know that many interviewers I have met with recently have loved the fact that after I was laid off that I began working in and with my community on some platforms I have. It is a good talking point for them to get to know you, one thing is you can not beat experience in your feild - that has been my downfall.
