A little poop won't cause a huge diaper rash - especially if you're breastfeeding. Just let him sleep. Clean him up when he wakes up. He will be just fine - I promise.
My baby boy fell asleep on the way home from a quick shopping trip before I could change his poppy diaper. Now he is asleep in the car seat which I carried inside. Should I risk waking him up by changing his diaper while he is asleep? Or should I risk a major diaper rash checkout let him continue sleeping? I feel bad because he hasn't been sleeping well these past few nights.

I have to agree with the other posts. Is he prone to diaper rash? Otherwise, I would just leave it. If he is having trouble sleeping, I highly recommend the book "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child". It taught me a LOT about infant sleep patterns and how the amount of sleep they get during the day affects how well they sleep at night. You would think if they didn't sleep during the day, they would sleep well at night because they are so tired, but in fact it is the opposite!! I found it to be so true!! :-) Good luck!! :-)
Get him out of that diaper! If you think he's not sleeping well now, wait til his little hiney is blistering and inflamed for the next few days.
If you get into the habit of this, you could wind up with some mean bacterial infections. Not worth it.
Not to mention, while boys don't get urinary tract infections often, they can get them from poopy diapers left unmanaged for too long. Stuff travels where it shouldn't and then he'll really be unhappy.
And just gross....I wouldn't want to sleep like that.
Poor baby.
I agree with Babysmama!
If he's not prone to rashes, let him sleep. I wouldn't want to sit/sleep in that, but I also wouldn't want to chew on my shoe, eat sand, eat food off the floor, eat my boogers, and all the other gross things babies do. :) If he is sleeping sweetly, he's not bothered by it. Let the guy rest.
I never could let my son sleep in poop. Just gross.
You can become really good at the Sleeping Diaper Change. Try it!
My son had a lot of trouble sleeping that first year. Sleep trumps poopy diaper when your kid has trouble sleeping. Granted my kids have never been prone to diaper rash, so if yours is I suppose that's a different story. But for the most part, sleep is worth the risk!
change his little bottom while hes asleep, because you never know how long they are going to sleep and waking up hungry and with poop filled pants sounds about as wonderful as it must feel..yuck
K. h.
Others may have had success changing a child while he is sleeping but I never did. It woke him up every single time - so I stopped doing it. I found that sleep was worth it if they are not prone to rash. Clean him immediately upon waking. Happy holidays!
If you can warm up the wipes and change him in a warm room, then you may be able to change him in his sleep. I'd try that.
I would change it - if he gets a rash, you'll feel rotten! (and so will he!)
Wake him up if he is prone to rashes
That's the one thing you always wake a sleeping baby for. Poop in the diaper and changing it.
If he stinks or is drenched....change him/her.
I always changed my kids when they fell asleep with poop. My daughter was let sleep in poop at daycare and came home twice with a scalding rash. Change him... it's worth the risk.
