Bright side - you went to a good doctor who instead of just putting on a cast, had the good sense to do a CT scan. She will be fine and all of this will be over before you know it.
So my daughter had a CT scan on Monday. Yesterday morning the doctor's office called and said the doctor wanted to see her as soon as possible. They got her in this morning. The CT scan showed that the break is worse than they originally thought and she needs surgery. The nurse and the guy that does the casts were both standing behind the doctor. The doctor said that they want to do her surgery tomorrow. The nurse steps forward and says that the surgery is scheduled for 1pm tomorrow (Friday).
It all happened so fast and I was more worried about keeping my daughter relaxed and calm that I haven't even had a chance to process it. She's not allowed to go back to school today and can't go back until at the earliest Tuesday. She seems ok about it. We're trying to make jokes and keep things light, but we've made sure to let her know what's going to happen and answer her questions.
Bright side...bright side....um, not seeing it yet. Hopefully when I update my SWH I'll have one. Until then, I'm going to keep the smile on my face and just keep swimming.
So can y'all spare a minute and say a prayer or send happy thoughts to my little one? Thanks!

ooh girl!!! good thoughts, HEALING thoughts and prayers coming your way!!
Sooo good they caught it NOW instead of next week...they can repair it and get her "set straight".
Let us know how things go tomorrow!!
The bright side is you have good doctors that are fixing it correctly. :)
I'm so, so very sorry for all your troubles!!! Sending you prayers, get well wishes and all kinds of good mojo!!!
I'm going to share one of my fave quotes with you. I've put it on here before, but I love it.
Happy moments, praise God
Difficult moments, seek God
Quiet moments, worship God
Painful moments, trust God
Every moment, thank God.
Please keep us updated. May God bless you and your family with a quiet, HEALTHY rest of 2013!!!
Man Jennifer. When it rains it pours. I think to say your year has started off stressful is an understatement. My heart goes out to you.
Bright side? You've met your deductible.
Rent some good girlie movies and have some girl time with your daughter once she is up for it. Make whatever fun you can out of this stinky situation.
AND they caught it. Many years ago, my aunt broke her arm and they did not realize it needed surgery until much, much later. And now her is pretty incapacitated....it doesn't straighten and she has little use of her fingers. She has been told more than once, that if the need for surgery was found earlier, she would have healed completely.
I hope the surgery goes well and she heals quickly. Good luck mama!
Bright side... This gives you an excuse to have a glass of whine a bubble bath tonight
Bright side... You can have a girls day with your daughter at some point before she goes back to school... Movies, hot chocolate, and some sweets!
Sending prayers your way! Stay strong, mama!
Saying prayers! Yikes, what a month!
May God hold your sweet girl in the palm of His hand.
I can most definitely spare a few minutes for prayer and happy thoughts for you and your family.
I hope they help. Good luck to your family. Just take it one step at a time; one hour at a time; one day at a time.
Prayers your way. To keep it in perspective, it could always be worse. It is fixable! She will be back in school Tuesday. Good luck.
Prayers said!
Also, where are you having the surgery done? Is it a large hospital? Do they have a pediatrics unit? If so, see if they have a Child Life Specialist on staff. That person will be able to answer any questions your daughter has in a "child friendly" manner.
Surgery is a scary thing! I haven't had to go through one for my child yet, and I am not looking forward to the day I do! Try to relax, bring a good book to keep your mind busy while you wait. All will be okay! :-)
Awww, honey, I am saying a prayer for you and your daughter and your whole family. Keep your head up, you will get through all of this. Perhaps this means that the rest of 2013 will be a breeze. Bad news tends to come in 3s, so you are due for good news now! Hugs!!
Of course we are sending prayers and happy thoughts your way. Hang in there, lady.
I know this seems scary to you but do you realize how much worse this could be? Your doctors are on top of it, and she's going to be fine. Take a deep breath. :)
Sending them your way :):)
many blessings
She'll be okay.
When my daughter was 7, she had to have surgery for a Hernia.
It was general anesthesia etc.
But the surgery team, was a Pediatric Surgery team, of course.
They know, how to handle children and my daughter was fine.
She had to stay out of school too.
And upon return, I gave the teacher a flier on what she can/cannot do, per physical activity or lifting heavy things etc.
The ENTIRE class, helped my daughter.
Her recovery, per the surgery was for 6 weeks.
She did fine.
Just ask the Surgeon any questions you have. They are supposed to explain things to you, and give you an after-care sheet of info. after the surgery to take home. Ask about pain as well and what you can give her.
Kids are resilient.
My daughter was a real trooper about her surgery.
It was in her groin area.
All the best.
The prayers and thoughts are on the way.
Good news is they saw it and can fix it! ..
Good luck
Sending prayers, hugs and warm thoughts.
I think it's a plus if they are anticipating her return to school on Tuesday.
Rent some movies for both of you to watch, indulge in some chocolate &
get her favorite foods/snacks she can enjoy during her recovery at home
I am praying and will pray tomorrow also. Best side of this is that it is able to be fixed with surgery. Worst, you are worried sick~ Hang in there, trust the doctors and try not to show your fear in front of your child. Take deep breaths and believe your child will be just fine. Take good care~
Praying for wisdom and skill for the medical staff and peace and comfort for your daughter and you.
Praying for the surgery to go well and for your daughter's healing to be quick and complete with no complications. Also praying for peace for you and her while you wait for the whole process to be complete.
Enjoy this special time with your daughter as she has to miss school. Let her friends and other family members know when she is able to have visitors. It will be fun for her to get some special attention from those who love her.
Find some fun things for her to do while she recoups so she isn't just watching TV. There is a lot of garbage on TV these days...
Break- ok to me that could be anything...where was it her neck? ok thats panic worthy, leg/arm ok were dealing with a very treatable she will bounce back to her old self quickly (or with in a yr?) Putting things in perspective USUALLY calms me down.
Today is my birthday. (33) Its bad luck to say what ones wish is prayers for quick healing. Also many prayers for all children suffering.

I don't know what body part your DD broke, or what her age is, but my oldest (now 15) was in 3rd grade, he had to have surgery to re-break his arm after it healed improperly. He now has plates in his ulna and radius and 2 long scars down his left forearm. But he is OKAY. He made it through JUST FINE, and your dd will, too!
