Hey, I am in the military and the civilian dentist that I go to is called Carolina Family Denistry and they are located at Ashley Phosphate and Dorchester. They are great and tricare approved.
I am a military wife with Tricare health insurance and I'm looking for a good dentist to visit. We haven't lived here long and I don't know much about any of the local dentists (North Charleston area) I'd appreciate some feedback from anyone. Thanks!

Hi J.! I recommend Family Dentistry and Cosmetics, Drs. Miller and Gilreath. They offer nitrous oxide for $65/visit (if you need major work done), and my friends with older children (my daughter is only 8 mos) say they are really good with kids.
They are on Rivers/52, just north of the 78/NAD/Navy base exit, on the left (from NC), right before 52 intersects 176 (Red Bank/St. James Ave.). There is a KFC and Taco Bell on either side of them, and they have a big red tooth sign. I'm sorry if my directions confuse you; I'm sure they'd be able to give better instructions.
Their number is ###-###-####, and be aware that they take lunch and lock their doors from 1-2 (so if your appointment is AT 2, it won't do much good to be there too early).
Good luck!
K. (and Carolyn)
J. I got to Dr. Vincete and he is located on Northside Drive off of Ashley Phosphate. You would turn at the McDonald near I-26 and that street is Northside Drive. His office is Northside Family Denistry. Hope this helps.
Also I was wondering do you have an Avon Lady in the area you deal with, if not could I bring you a book?

I know you said you wanted N. Chas, but this dentist is on James Island and he is worth the drive! And I know they accept Tricare. Good luck!
I am also a military wife living on the AFB. I love my dentist! She is Carrie Neimann at Costal Carolina Family Dentistry. ###-###-#### They are located a few doors down from Publix on the corner of Ashley Phosphate and Dorchester. It is a new clean office and they are completely pfofessional. They accept United Concordia (Tricare's dental). You have to enroll in that if you haven't already. When you go in for your first appointment they set up a plan for you if you need anything besides the cleaning. They contact your insurance and then print out a plan for you that has the services you need, how much it costs, how much your insurance covers and how much you pay out of pocket. I moved here needing all of my fillings redone. No fun! I really liked knowing exactly how much each of these visits were going to cost me.
I know it sounds silly, but they have disposable lip balm that they put on if your lips are looking chapped while they work on you. It is all of the little things that makes them stand out to me.
On another note, I don't know if you are in a mommies group or want to be in one, but I just joined one that is for military mommies. They are very active and I have liked everyone so far. They do all kinds of different activities. I have never seen a mommy group that offers so much. You can find it at http://www.moms.meetup.com/1150 You have to request to join. If you have any questions you can email me directly.
Sorry this was so long.

You have tricare, but are you signed up for the Concordia dental insurance? It's separate from tricare, and it's actually paid for (about $10 a month per person I think) out of your husband's paycheck. Once you have that, Dr. Corella in Summerville is where I go. They accept the Concordia insurance. Just be warned it is a very popular practice and there can be a long wait for an appointment.

This is right off I-26 & Ashley Phosphate. My sister takes her whole family there.
We go to Dr. Amanda Gregory, her office is up by Summerville High School. She does a great job with my 3 year old son. I've also heard good things about Coastal Carolina by the Publix on Dorchester.
