Okay, I have read the only other post in this category regarding carpet stains and I'm wondering if all those ideas, especially the OxyClean, will work on Apple Juice stains. My carpet is loaded with them, I mean literally my carpet looks like a cheetah or leopard with all the spots. I rent my apartment and don't want to lose my deposit because of how bad the carpet is, and can't afford to have it shampooed professionally. We tried renting a Rug Doctor from the grocery store and it seemed to work just fine, until about a week later when the spots started reappearing. It really stinks to know that you get spots even when you tried to soak up the spill as soon as it happened. I have them all over my living room, some good size spots near the sliding door from outside, all down my hallway, and some here and there in the bedrooms. Please help!! Thanks!!
I haven't had a chance to purchase anything yet, but do any of these ideas work for stains that have been there for like.....lets say.....6 months?! Thanks for all the great help!!

A carpet cleaner told us Folex was the best cleaner to use and boy was he right !!! He mentioned the other cleaners have some type of oil in them and the stain comes back again (which it did) . So once we started using Folex that has been it for us . good luck

OxyClean I believe is one option as I also see them on TV commercials....however,I have tried this 3M heavy duty carpet spray cleaner my husband bought and it works superb.I mostly have black spots as shoes leave whatever residue they might have stepped on.I just spray them on the spot and rub off with a dry cloth.Hope that you will be able to find one on the grocery store.

Maybe someone already said this but Natures Miracle is great for organic stains. It is marketed for animal urine but it contains a live enzyme that literally eats away any kind of organic stain. But it only works on organic stains so it wont work on things like oil, paint and makeup.

I am renting, too, and have the exact same problem!!! It is so annoying! I have used Spot shot in the past and it works really well. I have just found it it too tedious to be constantly on my knees, so I broke down and bought a Steam Vac from Kohls. It retails for 200 dollars, but I got it on sale for 87. It really does an awesome job, and I just do it once a month or so. Good luck!

I have rented before also, and I had moved into this one apartment a long while ago that had real light gray carpet. I had a professional carpet service come out and clean the carpet. Well, I had asked him what I could use to keep stuff from staining and clean up spills, etc. He told me to use Windex. It has stuff in it that will not leave a residue on the carpet but will get stains out and keep stuff from staining it. I have used that since and it works excellently. I have never used it on reappearing stains, but I would still try. I have also used Scrubbing Bubbles; works really well, and 409.
I hope this helps!!

I know how you feel, my kids spills everything they can, of course on on purpose but it happens, and my hubby found this amazing stuff called Folex, it cost about $7 a bottle but it lasts a while and it works.
when i first moved into my home 3 yrs ago, there was a dark black stain on my girls carpet and I used Folex and it never came back, honest to god, it never came back.
it is easy to use too and doesnt have a really bad smell like some carpet cleaners.
I have found that Oxyclean spot remover for laundry works wonders on getting stains out of clothes really good.

Hi A.,
The apple juice itself doesn't stain your carpets it is the dirt sticking to the sugars in the apple juice. What happens is the juice will soak down into the pad and your carpet starts to act like a wick. Spot cleaning won't work the stain will keep coming up. You have to have a machine to do it. Obviously the better the machine the more suction you will get, but it still will take a couple of times of going over it. Make sure you don't let anyone walk on the carpet until it is completely dry. I hope that helps a little. P.S. I was also going to suggest the Folex also. They have it at HOME DEPOT and you can put it in carpet machines too. Good Luck

When the spots reappear, the rug cleaning people call that "wicking back up". It is because possibly the soap was not strong enough or the stains are so deep they go down to the padding and floor and are wicking back up. Try a good prewash rug spray like oxyclean brand. There are several others. But this one has peroxide and oxygen I think it is in it and it supposedly really works. Many apts will clean the entire carpets in your place after one or two years rental time. IF you have been there at least a year, ask your manager for this courtesy. After all the owners want the carpeting nice too or they have to replace it oftener. Put your request in writing and keep a copy of it for your own records. If they don't clean it for you, and they in the future try to keep some of your security deposit for rug cleaning, you will have proof that you asked before for this cleaning and they refused. If they refuse, try to get it in writing . I use rug doctor with a good woolite for pets shampoo that I buy at Walmart. Recently I paid to have Stanley Steemer come out and they did an ok job. They had to come back and do it right a second time but they do not charge again for this.(guarantee). Sears rug cleaning does it again too if you are not satisified. Ask for their specials going on at that time or for upcoming ones. Maybe you just need a good prespotter spray before the cleaning by rug doctor. Thats what it sounds like to me. Also, spend more time on those areas and not just a quickie once over. It really makes a difference if you are going to put out the money to do your own rugs. Good Luck!

I have had problems with juice stains too and the only thing I have found that really works is this stuff called AWESOME. It's in a clear bottle and it's yellow. You can find it at the 99 cent store or DollarTree. It works really well. Make sure you dilute it with some water. I have even used this on grease stains on my carpet. My husband is a machinist and he tracked grease in the house and this was the only thing that took it out. I've had it take out cranberry juice and grape juice also. I now use it in my carpet cleaning maching instead of that other stuff they try to sell you. Hope this works.

My father in law owned a carpet cleaning business. A quick but temporary fix is to boil some water, put some rubber gloves on, and using an old rag just rub the heck out of the spots with the water. I just did it the other day - it works!

This might sound strange, but I have found that windex and a white cloth work wonders. I use it whenever my son spills. It gets red koolaide out of white carpet, so it should work for your apple juice. spray the windex, and gently scrub the stain with a clen white cloth. Try not to use the same side of the white cloth more than 1-2 wipes, or it will smear more. Hope this helps.

OMG! I have the best thing for you. the other day a man knocked at my door and offered to show me something that would clean my carpet and that is safe enough for pets and children. I now have a perfectlry clean circle in the middle of my rug that is beautyfull and once they come and clean my carpet next week my carpet will never be this dirty ever he cleaned the floor with the product and a wash cloth and the dirt lifted from the rug to the cloth. I bought it for $45 and you dilute it into a bottle of water(spraybottle)it tells you how on back of course not safe for eyes or swollowing you can be the judge if you like it or not. I personally love it. also really excited that it takes out all the stain my kids have spilled kool-aid grape juice orange juice fruit punch if it's just apple juice you can use shout spray it and wipe it and it's gone love that stuff too. Gets rid of almost anything blood great and inexspensive.I am a clean freak. Good luck

I agree with Kassie, spot shot is number one. You have to make sure that you rub the spot dry though. That is half the problem, is if you clean it but it is still a little damp and then someone steps on it, it gets dirty again and brings all the oils out. So just make sure that the spot is dry before stopping.

I think spots on the carpet is normal wear and tear for apartments and that they really expect that kind of stuff...I just moved into some apartments and I saw the professional carpet cleaners they had come in for the apartment across the breezeway from me...the carpet was really bad. You should either check your contract carefully and chat with mgmt. or check tenant's rights in CA...because I think you're probably spending too much time on something they are going to do either way...i.e. clean the carpets for new tenants.

A., THE BEST ADVICE THERE IS IS TO NOT LET THEM CARRY AROUND JUICE .SET THEM AT THE TABLE OR IN THE HIGH CHAIR TO DRINK.OR EVEN ON A SMALL STEP STOOL IN THE KITCHEN . THAT STOPS ALL CARPET STAINS.AND AS I LOOKED AT SOME RESPONSES I HAVE TO AGREE FOLEX WORKS WELL ALSO KNOW THAT IF YOU "SHAMPOO" YOUR CARPET YOU ARE PUTTING SOAP INTO IT AND IT ISNT COMING OUT .ITS LIKE SHAMPOOING YOUR HAIR AND NOT RINSING IT.....STEAM CLEANING IS WHAT IS THE BEST..MY SON WAS IN THE BUSINESS FOR SEVEARL YEARS .... HE KEPT MY CARPETS SPOT FREE...BUT UNDER NO CONDITIONS USE CARPET SHAMPOO UNLES YOU ARE USING A STEAM CLEANER AND SPECIAL STUFF MADE FOR THAT..WET CARPET AND DIRTY SHOES WILL BRING ALL SPOTS BACK UP........TRY DOING IT ON A WEEKEND THAT YOU CAN BE GONE .... DO IT ON A FRIDAY NIGHT THEN GO AWAY AND COME BACK SUNDAY.CARPETS DRY AND HOPFULLY WILL STAY SPOT FREE WITH THE BABIES IN THE KITCHEN WITH THEIR DRINKS ! gOOD LUCK

Be carful of carpet cleaners with heavy chemicals in them. They frequently clean the upper fibers of the carpet, but not the lower, so after a week or two of walking on it the stain comes back. (The phantom, we call it.) The best solution I've found for new stains is a forceful spray of water and an upward motion scrub and then a dry cloth pat down. For older, set stains, Nature's Miricle is a dream! I discovered this product cleaning puppy pee stains several years ago. Pour or spray it on, let sit for five minutes, then upward scrub and pat dry. Good luck!

Why do you have apple juice spots all over your carpet? Don't you have spill proof cups for them? Regardless, the only thing that will work is Woolite p.o.d. It works on old stains as well as recent ones, and works on just about any kind of stain. My only complaint about it, is it comes only in a 6 oz size. But it really works!!

My husband used to manage apartments and as a rule, the property management company autmatically took $50 from the tenant's deposit for carpet cleaning when they moved out. Of course, we would let new tenants know to expect the fee when they moved out and most were happy to know that the carpet was cleaned before they moved in and most did not have a problem with the fee. Contact your property manager to find out what the policy is to ensure you are informed.
Also, I have used Spot Shot, Windex and some of the homemade cleaners already mentioned with success. Do check any product you plan to use in an inconspicuous area near the edge first. My husband left a orange stain from a mandarin with a lighter ring around it because whatever cleaner he used bleached a circle around it. Argh!!
You do need to deep clean these areas, rinse the cleaner out very well and scotchgaurd the area because some cleaner residues actually attract the dirt from your shoes back to the stains!
