Does anyone know of any websites where I can find old sheet music? I'm not looking for antique stuff. Just some that has some age lol. They will be used in some centerpieces. So don't want to pay a fortune. I was hoping for someone to say "oh yeah go to xyz.com" so if anyone has a go to place for used sheet music Would love it. Thanks

What can I do next?

Your local Goodwill or other type of "thrift" store.

You might even go to your local music store and let them know what you are trying to do and if they have music they were going to discard and work a deal with them...as the books and sheet music the tutors use end up falling apart...eventually...

contact a seasoned music teacher. They may have sheets they are no longer using...this place has a clearance page...not sure what your budget is..

I would look at thrift stores. Also, there are numerous "how to's" online on how to artificially age paper so you could just get newer sheet music and age it to look old for your centerpieces.

Go to your local thrift store and look in the books section, ask them if they have sheet music. I find boxes and boxes of sheet music, piano books, instrument technique books, etc....

You should find stuff for a quarter or fifty cents at most.

I do not know of any web sites, but you might contact local HS or college music departments. They may have some items they would be willing to gift you.

Maybe churches??

Good luck!

Agree that thrift stores or used bookstores would be an option. Maybe check with your local high school to see if they have some you can at least borrow.

I would not get real music. Go to the craft store and their scrapbooking section. On a sale, you can get scrapbook pages that are printed with music motifs (looking like sheet music) for as little as 20 to 50 cents a page (full price they can be from $1.00 to several bucks, but the craft stores like Michaels and A.C. Moore often have these papers on sale). I've seen these music papers that had a sepia-toned look that made them look antique.

Going to a craft store might be faster and easier than digging around in thrift stores. Thrift stores can be very hit or miss on items as specific as sheet music.

Unless you are doing really large centerpieces you might be able to cut these large scrapbooking pages in half to get what you want.

I've also seen wrapping paper in rolls, made to look like sheet music.

An alternative would be to ask a local music store if it has any old sheet music it is going to "remainder" because it's not selling. You might be able to cut a deal with them to take some off their hands cheaply if you don't care what the actual music is. But I still think any music-patterned paper could work as well and be cheaper.

I've seen sheet music at thrift stores. You could call so you don't have to run around.

You can print sheet music from online. The bonus is that you get to choose what songs to use and can match the theme for your event. There are places like: http://www.makingmusicfun.net/htm/printit_free_printable_...

Use a laser printer, not ink jet. Then give the appearance of age. For example, you can brew strong black tea and pour it into a 13x9 or similar pan. Dip the pages in them for a minute, then pull them out to dry. When it dries, the paper will be yellowed and a bit uneven.

There are other methods, depending on what you want: http://www.wikihow.com/Make-Paper-Look-Old

Try your local library or any school (elementary through university) that has a music department. They may have some older stuff that they want to get rid of and you could help the school buy new music :)
