Anyone Wear Men's Jeans?

I am so sick of trying to find jeans that fit me! I'm tired of them all being those thin "fashion jeans" with spandex that offer virtually no warmth when it starts getting cold. I do not like layering all sorts of things under my jeans just to stay warm when we go out in the winter months. We don't get snow but it can get pretty cold and rainy and it can get into the 20s at night while we're out. Thin little fashion jeans don't cut it!
I am strongly considering trying men's jeans to see if I can get what I want. I'm tall (5'9"). I am not overweight (I'm about 160). I am curvy. I've got a big bone structure. I average a size 10 but lately I'm finding I can be anywhere on the map depending on where I go. Old Navy I tried on a 10 and couldn't even keep them on with a belt but the 8s were so tight I couldn't finish zipping them much less buttoning them. Where is the middle ground? I get stuff like this all over the place. I was a 10 before getting pregnant but I have a little bit more roll then I did because I'm still working on the muscles and I've had 3 kids so there's more left over skin. Pants that I had before don't fit me in some cases but new 10s I've bought after fit me well enough. I don't understand that either.
I know that men's jeans won't be as pretty but at this point I don't care. I'll have a shirt over them and a jacket most of the time so you'd not see the top part. Are they cut differently in the hips or anything? Does anyone know?
I'm going out today to see if I can find anything. Any ideas you have I'd love to hear.
And yes..this isn't the first time I've asked about jeans...and I still have had no real luck. Thus thinking about men's jeans and thus the new question.

Edited: I used to live in Levi's button fly 501s. They are impossible to find now! Where are you all finding them? I used to get them at Mervyns back in the day. Of course they're long gone. @ Darleene P. I've done the same thing when looking for pants after my third was born. I've lost track of how many stores I've gone to, How many styles I've tried and how many sizes I've put on. The worst was The Gap! I tried their "Curvy" and when I got to the 16 and they still didn't fit I lost it. I barely made it out of the store before crying my eyes out. I mean..really..10s to 12s max at my largest after she was born anywhere else but there I was still trying at a 16?! I'm making 3 piles of all the pants in my house.."too small", "too big" and "wearable", not calling them fitting.

What can I do next?

Men's jeans are not cut for women's hips. Ever since I was twelve there is no way I could ever wear a pair of men's jeans. Either I would have to cinch them up with a belt to the point they looked like a drawstring or they would fall down.

Mens jeans are cut different; if you are curvy, men's jeans probably won't fit, but try on a pair; no harm in that. I'm a catalog shopper and love Land's End jeans (Sears carries a limited line of Land's End so you might be able to try them on there). LL Bean or Eddie Bauer are good quality too. If you are looking for warmth, the flannel lined jeans are wonderful.

I have not tried mens jeans.
But just an idea--have you ever tried the flannel-lined jeans from LL Bean? I haven't but my camping-type friends LOVE them!

Men's jeans usually have more room in the butt and definitely more room in the crotch. I'm short, but petites aren't curvy enough for me, even in the size 8-10 that I need. I've had good luck with Gap's curvy jeans and I've had good luck with Kohl's brand of jeans. You may want to see if you have a Denim Bar or a jean specific store near you. The jeans are expensive, but they really tailor them to fit. I know Levi used to have stores that customized their jeans. Most stores now have a curvy fit jean. The only one I had problems with was Ann Taylor. It looked like I pooped my pants it was so baggy, and you may get that same look with men's jeans.

I would also like to voice my endorsement for levi's 501s. They are harder to find now. I understand your pain in trying to find jeans for a curvier body. Not long ago, I came home in tears after trying to find jeans following my oldest son's birth. When I finally found the jeans I wanted from Kohl's, I bought 3 pairs of the same color.

who cares if they are for men? It is called a tailor. That is who makes your jeans fit. seriously, get the bigger pair, then get then altered. There are jeans w/ a flannel lining. LLBean, free shipping.

My favorite all time jeans are Levi's 501's. They simply fit your butt better than 'women's' jeans. They're warmer and sturdier too.

I second the comment about going to a tailor. I have a size 4/6 waist and an 8/10 butt and thighs. trying to find ANY PANTS that would not leave gaping spaces at the waist - even with belts was ridiculous. Sure it can cost another $35 in alterations... but think of it this way... how often are you going to wear them? at least once a week? that is totally worth the extra cash if you love them.
then again, I'm also a supporter of buying more expensive jeans for this very reason. Lots of people don't bat an eye at spending over $80 for a nice dress they might wear a few times, but over $80 for jeans? oh the expense! but if you think of the time/value of your outfit... you should spend more of your hard earned money on the items you wear the most.
just my two cents.
and the flannel lined jeans (as others have noted) might be a good bet for you. buy for the largest part of your physique, and then get to a tailor. screw the size labels.

I love mens' jeans. I have a very straight shape, and there's plenty of room for my hips. I love that they come right below my navel- not low-rise, but not mom jeans either. And the joy of an actual 34 inch inseam!

My favorites are all Levis button-fly jeans that I find at the thrift store.

When I was younger and closer to your size I loved the way Levis 501 fit all my best curves!

You can try men's jeans but if you are curvy I doubt they will work as there is generally no allowance for hips.
Have you tried an outdoor-ish clothing company, like LL Bean or REI?
