Is anyone out there using Mirena as a contraceptive. I'm considering this instead of the pill and wanted to know if anyone has used this contraceptive.
Yes, I'm using Mirena. Started about two months after the birth of my daughter. So far so good. No side effects. Good luck
I have had the mirena since July 2004 and I have cramped ever since, I have terrible mood swings and I gained 40 pounds 3 weeks after I got it. I lost almost all of my baby weight 6 weeks after I had my daughter, got the mirena, gained it all back, and have had emotional problems ever since. Sometimes I spot all month long and cramp miserably the whole time. I wish I could get it taken out but I don't have insurance. If you have ever had the depo shot then base it off of how you liked that because they are similar for me as far as symptoms go. Then again, I have heard of other women being extremely happy with it. I think it depends on how your body responds to the hormones in it. Hope this helps. :)
I had the Mirena IUD for almost 2 years and loved it...until I got pregnant with it. I had to have it removed and I am now 7 months pregnant. So, I am not a big supporter of the Mirena...good luck to you.

I have had it for a short while now so far so good. It's a tough thing to decide what method is right for you. So far I am liking it an others whom I know that have it do as well. good luck.
ps I had no pain only minor cramping for the first 24 hours
I used it for about 4-5 months and I cramped severely from the 1st day until my ob/gyn and I decided it was probably best to go another route.
It was almost like labor pains and nothing I took would help.

I used it for 5 years. That's how long it lasts! I love loved loved it! There was no pain in the procedure to pu it in either!

I decided to have the Mirena after I had my daughter (May 25, 2006) And, I love it. I have had it since September and it has just been wonderful - no issues at all. There was a little pain when it was inserted but, it only lasted a short time - by the time I left the doctor's office, I was fine. Some have some spotting, but, I did not. I would say go for it. I just cannot say one bad thing about it! Good luck!
I've had the Mirena since last June. There is a bit of spotting during the month but not much to even think twice about. I enjoy it. There is one thing that makes me crazy...when I can't find the strings wondering if it has moved out of place or not. Other than that I stand by it.
