Do they keep the DVD's?
I'd rip the ones I wanted and give the rest to the kids.
They lady that had the idea for the 200 disk holder had a good idea.
All the art can come out of the dvd holders and lay flat in a binder or envelope.
Hi Moms -
I'm looking into ways to de-clutter our house and I found this interesting option. Wal Mart will transfer your DVD library to digital copies. I think they actually already have them on the cloud and by showing that you own the DVD, they give you access to the file. The cost is $2 per movie. I'd love to have my movies on my computer or iPad and I'd love to get rid of the piles of DVDs that I have. Of course, I'm not sure we could actually do that because the family wants to keep them for security reasons - what if the cloud goes down or VUDU (the company doing this) goes out of business. I'm wondering if anyone has used this. Anyone know if you have to be online to see the movie? I'd like to be able to watch my iPad while traveling and I may not have internet at the time.
What do you think?

I also have Catalyst 4, but it definitely does NOT translate all movies. It only translated my older movies.

I dont know too much about it sorry, but I have seen what you are talking about and it seems expensive to me. Yes, it's only $2 a DVD but they sure add up, especially if you are a movie fan and have a lot of them.
To declutter in our house, I bought a big CD/DVD case that holds over 200 movies, or cd's and put all our movies etc in there. Now it only takes up a little space on the shelf instead of the entire thing, and we still have all our movies on hard copy.
I have a program on my computer that does that,
It's called DVD Catalyst 4 , I got it online it was $10 .
Put DVD in computer , choose what format you want it in, like if I want to make it in to a format I can view on my Nook color I choose the Nookcolor option.
or if I want to put it in a format that my kids can view it on their Sansa Fuzes then I pick Sansa then Fuze.
VERY easy to operate and much less expensive.
I haven't tried it but consider storage space on you iPad... we have tons of movies but wouldn't be able to hold very many on a basic iPad from what I can see, but that Catalyst 4 sounds good for older DVD's and newer ones can be bought with digital copies...
the Storage note book is what I do with my CD's then I saved all the jewel cases and art work in a box in the atic. Just be sure to have a back up of what ever you do, I had to reload all of my music one time and it was a pain in the neck!!! iTunes restored everything I bought online when I synced my phone...
