Anyone (Or Their Kids) Gluten-free?

My son is currently undiagnosed, but has suspected PDD. His OT suggested we try a gluten-free diet to see if it had an impact in his speech and behavior. Boy, did it!? Although the diet was hard, I saw a big difference within a few weeks.

Then we put him back on gluten so we could have him tested for celiac disease, which we do not have the results back yet on it. If he tests positive for celiac, the whole family will be tested as well.

Anyone have experience with gluten-free diets? I'm not a good cook, but I'm discovering that I am going to need to be very soon!

Hi J.!

I am a mother of 5 wonderful children. I have a child I am very concerned with about his eating disorder. His behavior/speech was leaning toward possible autism. I learned that diet/lifestyle means everything to a body, young or old. I understand nutrition and health because this is what I do. I will suggest some things for you to take a look at concerning a low-glycemic diet/lifestyle for the whole family. It really is attainable and I will say to you, take comfort and don't be overwhelmed with the transition, one day at a time.

I understand that your issue at hand is not about loosing weight. This just happens to be a diet/lifestyle that works all the way around for health to balance out the body so that it may begin to heal itself. After all, our internal being is a network of vital organs, one supporting the other, that must be sustained with proper nutrition, otherwise depleting.

Take a look at this web portal: www.marketamerica.com/laurahawkins

Go into the HEALTH AND NUTRITION choice on the left hand side. Scroll down to the "WEIGHT MANAGEMENT" choice. Don't be mislead. I am sending you to this area only because it contains a book called "GLYCEMIC FOOD INDEX". In your choices, click on "LITERATURE". You will then scroll down to see an option to purchase that book. This book will simplify for you the understanding of low- glycemic foods and how to arrange low-glycemic meals for your family. This type of lifestyle will not only drop fat-weight(poor immunity and sluggish strength) naturally and keep it off, but will also put on muscle-weight(good immunity and strength). There are also DVD'S/AUDIO'S to give explicit understanding about food and how the body processes it. These products are all a part of a what is called "TRANSITIONS" designed by Dr. Sherry Lieberman. Take a look at it. I am sure it will be of some help.

Congratulations on your awareness of CHANGING YOUR LIFESTYLE! What better things to teach our children while they are young? The lessons do begin at HOME!

My business is called "I WANT HEALTH". The web portal I sent you to is all about ALTERNATIVE MEDICINES. Read up on the "ISOTONIX" line of products as well. Firstly, OPC-3.

I am taking these same ideas into the school system a little at a time. Our new generations are headed for diabetes by the time they graduate high school. Scary huh? If I can be of assistance, contact: ____@____.com

Yes, and I wasn't a cook either but I'm getting better & better! Coconut flour and Sweet Potatoe flour are the best! Watch out for cross contamination from the plants where the foods were packaged or processed. You really need to watch the processed foods, gluten is in so much stuff even some body products. The GFCF yahoo group is a great info spot, and you can e-mail me anytime. We've been at it now almost 6 mos. it gets easier but I still have alot I want to try.

Hi J.,

We are not completely gluten free in our home but we have friends that are. Check out the cookbooks on this website
http://www.gfcfdiet.com/.

PDD and Celiac can both be reversed. (If the doctor tells you it can't, then you may want to take everything else he says with a grain of salt.) Celiac is an digestive autoimmune disorder that can be reversed if you build the digestive system. It can totally disappear if the stomach starts working the way it is supposed to. I am not a doctor but I am a mom who suffered form digestive disorders all my life. There are very SIMPLE solutions to get you going in the right direction. Autism can be helped with the CFGC diet as well but there are also other things you can do that are important. One of my best friends has a son that was a severe case and now is mainstreamed into the public school system.

If you want to talk, I'll be glad to share all the information I have. If nothing else, it will give you a starting point.

My Verizon cell is ###-###-####.

God Bless!

M.
