Anyone on Prednisone and Progesterone While Ttc?

After 3 2nd trimester losses and two 1st trimester miscarriages, I finally saw an RE who recommended using prednisone and progesterone the next time I want to ttc. I am already taking Neevo DHA for an MTHFR blood clotting mutation I have and am also taking baby aspirin, one extra fish oil and a regular vitamin. I don't know what to expect from the prednisone and the progesterone. I think she mentioned taking it at ovulation but am not exactly sure of the timing. I've been on prednisone before after surgery and it was horrible. I was up all night and eating at all hours. Unfortunately, I gained 25 pounds in about a month when I was on it before. I'm hoping the dose will be lower than what I had before so I don't experience the same side effects. I certainly don't need to gain anymore weight, except necessary baby weight. I don't know what to expect from the progesterone since I have never taken it before. My luteal phase seems to only be about 10 days long, so that's one of the reason the RE wants me to take it. I would appreciate any experiences anyone would be willing to share if they have been on prednisone, progesterone or both while ttc.

What can I do next?

I was on Prednisone for the end of my pregnancy, so I'm not sure what it does when you're trying to get pregnant. Ask your doctor if she could refer your to others (or a forum) to find out who's been on prednisone for conception.

So my info probably doesn't help you too much, but for what it's woth:
Prednisone actually made me feel a little better, (I suffer from ITP during pregnancy...low platelets, spontaneous bruising etc, and I actually had immune gobulin infusions during pregnancy and an emergency blood transfusion immediately after delivery) but I certainly could do with out the side effects of prednisone! I gained about 15 pounds in a couple of weeks. And after I weaned off it, I had a problem with hair loss....like patchy bald spots (luckily way in the back). But it seems to give your body the help it needs in certain areas. Hopefully it works for you! Come back to Mama pedia and look up old posts of mine about hair loss after you ween off the drugs. I got a lot of great advice in that area.
Best wishes to you and lots of prayers!

My kids have been on Prednisone when haveing problems with breathing while they are sick.I could only give it to them in the day time or yes they would be up ALL night. I know it is a steroid. I was getting Progesterone inj. once a week to keep from going into preterm labor. It worked great and don't remember any problems.
Not sure if this will help but good luck..

I am not sure what kind of testing you have been doing, but for me, after a couple miscarriages and a few hives episodes (which in the end were not so "unrelated") I was tested for various hormones levels and found out I have a thyroid imbalance. I had to take high doses of prednisone during some of my hives episodes and was told to stop completely breastfeeding my son, because it was having important side-effects for him and his development. With another hive episode, addressed early enough with medication, I was able to continue breastfeeding my second child, as long as I did not use a dose higher than a certain amount. Inform yourself about the effect of that medication on the development of a fetus...
Be strong! I am sure you will be able to get pregnant again, and bring the baby to terms...

I don't have any experience with the injections. Just wanted to say that I too had a 2nd trimester loss @ 23 weeks. It's horrible and you have my sympathy. Keep your head up and good luck!
