I saw that you posted back that you are still suffering. I took zofran and had the same side effects. I wound up losing 20 pounds during my pregnancy, but thankfully it did subside around 20 weeks to 38 weeks, then it came back for the last bit. UGH!
The people that are suggesting more water, not taking vitamins, etc... have not experience hypermyesis. Seriously. Water is not going to help. I couldn't even keep a tsp. of water down every 15 minutes.
It got so bad at one point after being hospitalized for an extended period of time that I considered terminating the pregnancy because I didn't think I would make it to the delivery. We finally contacted an author of a book on hypermysis and she was nice enough to come out and visit me and tell me about her experience. She did wind up terminating her pregnancy, but was able to recommend a great therapy to my high risk maternity doctor--- they dosed me up with steroids in my IV and I was literally better in minutes. It was the best thing I have ever done. There are some risks to the baby with steroids, but there is alot more risks when the baby isn't getting any nutrients.
I hope you are able to overcome your sickness.
Oh- if it isn't too bad, you might ask your dr for promethazane. It is much older than zofran and it helped me tremendously with my first pregnancy. (it is alot cheaper too!)
