My oldest is 3 and so far not in preschool. I was thinking about putting her in this fall but the preschool program that we wanted filled up before I could get her in. This has turned out to be a good thing. I think that there are lots of good reasons to put kids in preschool but I also think that too many people think it is a necessity and then expect their kids to learn way too much at preschool. The only thing that a preschool can teach a child at that age that is really hard to teach them at home is the social skills. Since you have twins, this is probably not as big of a concern for you. My daughter is very reserved so I was thinking about putting her in so that she would get used to the classroom setting more than anything else and the preschool that we wanted was only 3 days a week for a couple of hours. Not a glorified daycare. So if she doesn't go, it really is not that big of a deal to me. If you don't feel like your kids need preschool, then don't feel guilty about keeping them at home. They are probably learning all the things at home that they would in preschool anyway. Re-evaluate in another year or so and if you still don't want to do it, don't.
