Anyone Made a Turkey Roast in a Crock Pot?

I got one of those turkey breast roasts and was wondering if you can cook that in a crock pot like you would a pot roast... any ideas?

The package says it takes about 1.5 hrs to cook in the oven, but we're always running around so much, even on the weekends, I'm wondering if I can just drop it in the crock & let it cook.

Thanks!

Yes, by all means put in the crock pot I would add a little water just to keep it moist. But on low you should have no problem.

Try checking www.allrecipes.com, they have tons of tested recipes and reviews by real people like us. They also have a neat 'tool' where you can search by ingredients. Try typing in 'turkey roast' and 'crockpot' or 'slow cooker' and you should get some hints. Also, for your other question, I buy the foil pans and when I make something like lasagna or king ranch casserole, etc. I make extra to freeze for later. Just wrap tight with tin foil over the top and label with what it is and the date. Thaw in fridge the night before and it will be ready to bake the next day. Some people toss the pans, but I get a couple of uses out of them. Don't forget to use a cookie sheet under for extra support. :-)
Congratulations on your new baby!

I don't see why you couldn't. I would put some water or broth in with it since turkeys have less fat in them than a regular roast.

There is a fabulous blog that I absolutely love called A Year of Slow Cooking. The girl spent 365 days cooking in her crock pot and has not only some great recipes but a lot of them are glutten free etc... you can go on there and type in turkey roast and probably find a recipe. enjoy!

Yummy! We do that all the time. Only about 1 to 1-1/2 oup water needed in the crockpot with the turkey. I like to add a bay leaf or two. Then low for 8-10hrs. Easy easy. I just used bottled turkey gravy with it.

I prepared them in a crock pot just like a beef roast with a package of lipton onion soup mix and potatoes and carrots, also used a can of cranberry sauce poured over the turkey breast once, it was very good. Just cook 6-8 hours on low or 3-4 hours on high. I'll put just about anything in the crockpot.

Yes, you can cook just about anything in a crockpot and I've cooked those turkey roasts (and pork roasts) in one lots of times. I usually add some type of envelope gravy to it also. Turns out great!

Hi D.-

I haven't tried it yet, but I have a cookbook for the crock pot (Fix It And Forget It) and there are several recipes for cooking a turkey breast or roast in the crockpot. Most of them call for some chicken broth in the crockpot and then cook for 6-8 hours on low for a 5 1/2 lb. bone-in breast.

Good luck!
