Anyone reading a fun book for the summer?
While I enjoy some "sizzle".. I do like there to be SOME story line of interest!!
Would love to hear what everyone is reading!

The buzz here at work is a reread of the Twilight series. I have not read them though I have been told I better so I can be in on the talk about them. I heard they can be slow to start initially but then they are books you cannot put down.
A few years ago I read the book Wicked. It was awesome. I read it on the walk home from the train. I have actually been looking for it to read again.
And I have heard the authors the others have recommended are great as well. I just keep forgetting who I am looking for when I go to the library. One day...

If you like spooky scary stuff Kay Hooper has several series out,

shadow series 3 books
evil series 3 books
chill series 3 books
blood series 3 books

elizabeth lowell has a great series about the donovan family
amber beach, jade island, pearl cove and midnight in ruby bayou there are other books she writes that reference the characters from these 4 but these are the best

j.d. robb has a series about a futuristic detective called eve dallas they are the death series i think there are about 20 or so of them maybe more but they are also really good

I too agree Janet Evanovich - her One for the Money...Stephanie Plum series is great. Library has ALL of them - so free is even better.

The librarian also turned me onto Sue Grafton - the alphabet mysteries - Kinsey Milhone is the main character.

The reason these are so fun is because there are fun characters, a strong female lead (even if she does bumble it a bit, it's REALLY funny too), and they do have a bit of love/romance which keeps it interesting too.

I must say, before becoming a Mommy I WAS NOT a big reader - I spent too much time on the computer at work and didn't want to read ANYTHING. These "mystery" books are part of a series which means you can keep getting them at your convenience from the library anytime to need a new read. It's fun getting to know the characters in the order of the books and feel excited when you get the next book.

Have fun!

Jen Lancaster is hilarious (Bitter is the New Black is the only book I've ever actually I laughed out loud at). Janet Evanovich and Jennifer Weiner are both fabulous authors. The Shopaholic series by Sophie Kinsella are great easy reads. 'She's Come Undone' by Wally Lamb is a great book although it can get kinda heavy. I love Joy Fielding. Diane Mott Davidson has a great series about a caterer who solves crimes. Every book has a bunch of recipes too. I also love John Grisham, Nora Roberts, and Jodi Piccult.
I recently discovered a website called swaptree.com that's I like alot. You list the books you have and want to trade and then it gives you books you can get for your books. Or you can list books you want. Once you and someone else have agreed on a trade you ship your book to that person and wait for your book. You can pay for and print out shipping labels on their site too. It's about $2.40 to ship a paperback. They also have movies, music, and video games as well.
Happy reading!

I have read the Janet Evanovich series with Stephanie Plum, super fun read with some sizzle! The first one is called One for the Money. They are a ton of fun, I read them and so do all the women in my family!

I am currently reading "The Secrets She Left Behind" by Diane Chamberlain and am LOVING it!! I also recently read "Charley's Web" which was very good. They both just recently went to paperback. These books don't have "sizzle" but they are suspenseful and keep you guessing. Happy reading!

The Janet Evanovich books with Stephanie Plum are a great read as another poster suggested, get them used on Amazon or at the library to keep it cheap. Also, I know its old, but I always really like the book "The Thorn Birds". Good love story, but a great read. Kind of a cheesy 70's mini-series, but still one of my favorite books!

I just read Rogue, by Danielle Steele, which was a quick fun summer read. Also, Another View of Paradise is good, and I am now reading Julie and Julia, which is cute but no sizzle if that's what you want for summer. :)
