Anyone Else Have This?

Hi Ladies -
I'm looking for some reassurance that everything will be okay! I had an ultrasound yesterday (very early, only 7wks) and on each side of the placenta, there was a blood sac - same size as the placenta. The ultrasound tech said it generally indicates a miscarriage, but sometimes not. Has anyone else every had this? I can't talk to my doctor until Tuesday, and I'm going crazy!!! Thanks!

What can I do next?

I did have this with my first pregnancy. It is very common just as long as the sac diminishes as the baby grows. In some cases such as mine the blood clot grew along with the size of the baby. I went into preterm labor at 20 weeks, and the baby could not be saved. It is out of your hands at this point. I was put on pelvic rest and restricted activities throughout the pregnancy. You can only do so much though. Hopefully, you'll be in the majority of cases where everything will be fine. Good luck to you.

First of all...try your very hardest to just put this out of your mind for now and concentrate on just enjoy the Labor Day Weekend with your family. You are not going to be able to change a thing by worrying and fretting and the stress will not do you or your little one any good.(That being said, I will tell you that I would be a nervous wreck if I were you...it is much easier said than done to put something like this out of your mind!!!)
My second point is...SHAME ON THAT ULTRASOUND TECH!!!! He/she is NOT trained to interpret the results of the ultrasound, only trained to run the ultrasound machine. I would make a special point of telling your OB/GYN of how upset and frantic you were all weekend long because of the techs remark to you!!! Just think, if the tech had just done his/her job and kept the opinions quiet, you would not be upset and distraught, and the results would all be the same when you see the OB/GYN on Tuesday. This falls under the same idea as the rules I need to abide by where I work as a pharmacy clerk...I am not to give any opinions at all...if they ask a question as simple as "what do I take for a headache"....I immediately call the pharmacist. That is why they wear the white coat, why they went to school for years and years and why they carry very expensive malpractise insurance!!!
God bless you and your little one A....I pray that everything is going to be just fine. But remember, God is in control, try to rest in Him.

I don't know if you believe in God or not. But He's in charge no matter what happens. And you cause your body way more stress worrying all weekend about something you cant control anyway. Enjoy the holiday weekend with the children you have right now. Lots of folks dont have any children.

Praying that everythings ok and that you ENJOY this weekend.

My duaghter-in-law went thru the same thing. Early on there was a blood sac. But, is was a doctor (a real quack)that told her that it indicated a miscarriage. I begged her to go to another doctor which she did. They told her that they would keep a close eye on her but that comment was not always true. Which is was not as now I have a beautiful 5 month old granddaughter named Isabell. Please don't let that TECK's comment drive you crazy, as they seriously I don't believe, should be able to tell any patient their so called findings or opinions. Honey, what they told my daughter-in-law was to calm down and time will tell. Nobody knows what will happen honey, you have just got to believe all will be okay.
Hugs & Blessings,
Nana P.

I am so sorry to hear about your ultrasound. I did not have this issue either, however, I wanted to write and say that I would have no problem calling my doctor and asking about this. The fact that this is a holiday weekend would not even enter my mind. It would likely be a 2-3 minute phone call (at best) so you are not taking that much time out of your OB's day and it will give you the information that you need to stay emotionally healthy to carry this baby. Take care and call your OB.

It could also be implantation bleeding. I had this with my now 4 year old. I would just take it easy. I stayed off my feet most of that pregnancy. It never did go away completely. Good Luck. I am pregnant now and had a bleed the ultra sound tech said I would have some spotting and to call my doctor. I never spotted and when I went to my ob and they did an internal ultrasound it was gone. Good luck.

My sister in law had that at 6 weeks when she went to the ER with bad cramps and she was feeling very lightheaded. They basically told her she was having a miscarriage and to go home. She was devastated and scared to death but ended up having a perfectly healthy baby girl. So I would talk to your doctor and try not to worry too much. I hope everything works out :)
