HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! May 2014 be all that you want it to be and more!

I've met several women on here in person...and have set up a meeting for the 19th of January for another one...YAY!!! And helping one move next weekend!!

I tried to get a mamapedia meet up going...but many were against it...oh well...their loss!!

There are a lot of women on here that I love and trust...and I value their opinions! There are a few on here - like you mention - that I don't always agree with politically...but I really like the advice they give...and have told them that.....

I have not met any in person, but would if I could. I have been on here (under a different name) for many years and have gotten to know several of the women personally. I am friends with several on my facebook page. I don't know if there is still a "group" or "page" on facebook that many of us belonged to, but there was. I left it because it stressed me out and at the time, I didn't want any more negative things in my life than I already had. lol I'm not on here as much as I used to be but do enjoy the camaraderie of the same group of regulars, regardless of their points of view. HNY to you too!!!!!

What a nice post, we see too many posts complaining that people arent "nice enough" but I think the majority of us are like you, we come here seeking connections, and we get diverse insight and ideas from a diverse group of people. I too feel that there are people I disagree with strongly on some issues, but value their thoughts, statements and what they add to discussions. I feel the same way about some posters. I've met a couple in my neck of the woods, both post very good advice on this forum (in my opinion). There's one I would meet if I ever did a cross-country tour, for sure.

I think the diversity of voices is the best asset of this site.

PS: Janet PRobinson: your friend's mom is working 192 hours a month. Divided by 4.3, it looks like she's worked 44 hours each week. Quite a bit more than a 'few' hours of work.

I have found this site to be a huge asset, and there are plenty of ladies (I think :) ) on here that I would love to have lunch with! Or with whom I would like to have lunch, for our grammarians out there. I love the ability to compartmentalize relationships here that does not exist in real life. It is far easier to set aside a strong political/ethical/religious/whatever disagreement when you can just click on a different subject.

I value the perspectives and advice that I get from the wide variety of parents here and I wish nothing but the best for all of you! Happy New Year!!

Yes, I feel connected to many of you. I look forward to certain peoples' responses, and so enjoy how all the posters open my mind with their diversity of answers. So many of you mamas put such heart in your answers and have let us get to know you each through the answers that it makes me protective of the site :-).

I feel like it's pretty much like any community~There are people I seem to agree with almost all the time, and their thoughts seem to go right along with mine. There are people who sometimes clash with my opinion, but I still respect their opinions and enjoy their perspective. There are even people who I usually DISagree with, but still enjoy reading.

I actually have formed "real life" relationships with a few people on here. :) Some, I referred to this site so we knew each other before hand... but there were a couple who happened to live in this area, so we made a playdate at a local park and have become friends. There are also a couple of people who I have formed e-relationships with, and we communicate via e-mail. (Just gotta be careful there, as I have no way of knowing for sure that they aren't a some creeper... ;) Just stick to basic internet safety guidelines. lol.)

I have a really hard time forming relationships in real life... so the relationships I have, even with people who I only know as a screen name on the parenting site I love, are very important to me. :)

I'm like Marie, in that, I like the diversity of opinions. It helps solidify some of my opinions and changes a few, but it it's great getting a wider view.

I like seeing things from younger and older moms. There is a guinuine lack of communication between generations and even politically diverse people. Most of the time it's the media and polls that paint a certain picture and we assume they are accurate.

I wouldn't mind meeting others around here. I don't have a problem making real life friends but it's always interesting meeting new people.

Before Mamapedia, I lived in my own world and mind. You all help me to see things from a different ethnic group's perspective, from younger perspectives, and that there is rarely a common sense answer. However, because some of you are getting to know me well, you are no longer objective, just like real life friends.

There are a number of us here who have connected in real life. :-) Happy New Year!

I understand what you are saying but haven't reached out to anyone here to get to know them better. I like being anonymous here. I do enjoy reading the advice given, people catch things I didn't, seeing the different perspectives.

People were truly helpful to me and my first serious post about my 14 year old son. And my first post, I got a lot of great answers to how I handled a situation.

I look forward to many more questions and answers!! I sound like Alex Trebek from Jeopardy!

oh, heavens, yes! i've developed a couple of really awesome RL friends from this site, and there are a slew of gals i'd love to meet up with at some point.
the flowers on this site definitely make the weeds worthwhile.

I have been on the site since it was Mamasource years ago.

Yes, I have met some moms in person and made friendships and I have also become close with a few others who are long distance but we stay in touch and have become friends.
