Just heard about Essure - the non surgical/non hormonal way to prevent future pregnancies. I've done some online research and the complications sound very worrisome - cramping, low libido and pregnancy. Uggh! Has anyone out here done it? What was your experience?

What can I do next?

I had the procedure done in August 2009. Everything went great. The coil implantation went awesome, there was mild pain (cramping) after the procedure with some bleeding, nothing too terrible or worrisome. I had the confirmation test done 3 months later as well. I'm 100% blocked, and loving it!!! I have not had any complications since the procedure was done. Nothing dramatic has changed or happened either.
It is a great alternative to the standard tubal ligation.

I Had Essure done last year and love it! A superb permanent birth control option....no bad effects at all. Not so easy to find a doctor who does it, but I am lucky enough that my doctor is proficient in it! Cannot say anything negative about it:-)

I had Essure done three yrs ago after the birth of my son. I am for the most part pleased with it . My sex drive is no lower than before, probably better since. I do have killer cramps the first day of my cycle. And as far as pregnancy, If the procedure is done correctly , they will go back in a few months after it is done and make sure it is working like it is supposed to. My OB did an MRI with a specific dye to make sure. Good luck

I had the Essure procedure done 7 months after my last child. I am so happy with the results. The initial implantation of the coils was unremarkable....no pain, no bleeding and no limitations whatsoever. You must follow up for a further diagnostic exam a min of 3 months later to make sure your tubes are 100% blocked. This test was mildly uncomfortable yet very brief. My advice to you would be to make sure that the doctor performing the procedure is experienced (ask for how many procedures he/she have performed). Overall, I am thrilled and have not had one single complication or regret. Check out www.essure.com for additional info or feel free to send me a PM if you have any further questions. Best of luck, Michelle
