Anyone Done a Meal Swap Before?

One of my goals for the new year is to eat better and cook at home more. since I work part time this can sometimes be challenging. My mom said that she used to have 2-3 people she would swap meals with when she was a young mom. Apparently my mom and 2 other ladies cooke 2 times each per week. they made enough portions for their own families as well as the other 2 families. She said it was nice because they had homemade meals 6 times per week and it was easy for her because she only had to make larger amounts of the stuff she cooked 2 times per week. Has anyone heard of something like this? Thanks!

What can I do next?

i dont do this but i cook for 1-2 weeks meals every night and just double the recipe then freeze the rest and then the next week or two i don't have to cook...in the beginning you are eating the same meal every other week but as you do it more you stock pile and have more choices

One of my clients is a part of something like that. It really sounds pretty neat. :)

My sister in-law does this and loves it. She has had to develop within her children the attitude that you "get what you get and you don't throw a fit". They also have to be careful about any allergies any of the families may have. For example, her son cannot have anything with peanuts.

They have set days and times that the food will be cooked/delivered. And they all live within 0-3 miles of each other, so that really helps.
They cook 2 times each week. It also helps that the families are very close in numbers- each family has 4-5 people.

The moms do get together once a month to decide what to cook so that they don't end up with the same dinner back to back. After they meet, my sister in-law then does all her shopping for the month for most of what she will need.
