I was wondering which was worse for my hair....blowdrying it or using a flat iron? Cosmetologist please HELP!!
Definately flat iron is worst on your hair? Yes there are products that you can buy for blow drying. The best I have found is "Sleek" by Matrix. It helps if you purchase the whole system (shampoo, conditioner, and extreme creme) also if you choose blowdrying get a big round metal based brush. If you prefer the flat iron get a thermal protectant for your hair that you spray on dry hair on each section to protect from the heat.
I admit to doing both almost every morning. However, I always condition and I spray "Its a 10" miracle conditioning spray on it before blowdrying. I get regular trims and color too and my hair has stayed in decent shape. Its naturally curly so on the weekends I let it dry naturally.
the worst is the flat iorn, you are putting the heat directly on it, neither one is good for your hair, but they do sell products that you can put into your hair before you blow dry it or use the hot iorn to prevent damage.
pulling the hair with a brush while blow drying is bad news. it's best to blow dry low heat w/o pulling then flat iron when dry. after you're completely done give your hair a blast of cool air to close the cuticle, that'll help keep frizziness away, also keeps hair happy. also always use some kind of leave in conditioner, blow drying or not. i love biolage fortifing spray. good luck!
