Any Recommendations for Comfortable Shoes While Pregnant???

Can someone recommend some good comfortable, quality shoes to wear during pregnancy. I'm so used to thinking about looks & not comfort with shoes, but as I'm getting further along in my pregnancy & on my feet at work I'm starting to feel I need better shoes. If something worked for you, please let me know.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you so much everyone for your recommendations. I ended up buying a pair of Dansko and Merrell shoes. The Merrell shoes came with a 30 day comfort guarantee so I felt like I couldn't go wrong. So far they have both been good. I have to admit I have tried on Crocs several times (after all the rave reviews) to include basic ones at Costco to the cute MaryJane ones I found at Macy's. However, I have realized I am a 8.5 and Crocs are only full sizes (one is a smidget too big and the other a smidget too small).
Thanks again for all the valuable information...

I wore Crocs throughout my entire pregnancy and they were awesome! I know when you think Crocs, the first thing that comes to mind is those funny looking shoes with the holes on the top, but actually Crocs has a couple of cute styles to choose from. My favorites were the Flip-Flops and Mary Janes, and of course I did have the funny ones with the holes on top (I wore those around the house instead of slippers). The are fairly inexpensive, about $20-$30 a pair and you can find them at Macy's, Journey's, Sports Authority, and plenty of other stores sell them also. Just another FYI, Payless sells Airwalks that work just as good, but they only have the clog style without the holes. Hope this information helps:)

The Dansko orthopedic clogs have excellent support. I work retail and they've helped a lot. No matter what, my feet still hurt by the end of the day, but much better with these shoes. And some of them aren't so bad. They're actually kinda cute.
I also splurged on a pair of Cole Haan boots with the Nike Air insole and I LOOOVE them. I luckily found them at Nordstom on sale. Hope this helps. Good luck! It's the constant search for me as well!

I lived in my rainbow sandals- the most comfortable sandals around. For work, I had a couple of BCBG flats from nordstrom and they were very comfy while still being stylish. After 8 hours of running around at a wedding, my swollen feet were not in pain. I've heard that naturalizer is a really comfy brand too.

Hi! It's been ages since I was pregnant but the memory of the water retention and swelling linger on and on and on.(LOL!) I found SAS to be a brand that totally worked for me. Not extremely stylish but so incredibly comfortable. There is an outlet in Lake Elsinore off the 15 with a SAS store there. Hope you find something soon - our traditional SoCal heat is on the way!

OK, not the most stylish but they have many different styles available now. Crocs. I know, you may have just rolled your eyes! LOL However, give them a try. Go to their website and you'll see many different styles, not just the big cloggy ones that you see everyone wearing. Also, The Sport Chalet carries a good variety. I promise you, not only will your feet thank you but your legs and lower back too! If you can get past the look, by a pair from their RX line. They are inexpensive enough to at least have a pair to wear around the house - that is when I wear mine, during the day at home. I am not pregnant, right now, but I will wear them daily if I become pregnant again. Congratulations to you!

My chiropractor recommended this place as a place where they really know how to fit you, and only sell "good" shoes, as in good for you, not good-looking, not that the two are mutually exclusive! I'm still happy with the running shoes I got there, I use them just for walking and hiking. I've heard other good reports from people about this place, too.

When I was pregnant I bought a pair of slip on tennis shoes the next size up (because they have laces, they can be loosened for swelling. and invest in a nice pair of flip flops!

I wore Aerosals (sp?) when I needed a dressier shoe because they have a lot of choices when it comes to a good mix of style and comfort. (Wider heels, short heels, not heels, and supportive soles/shoes). Great FITTNG tennis shoes are the best.

Okay, real clogs (like Dansko) are great, but I'm sorry, Crocs are just too homely for me. A REALLY good brand of shoe that's pricey but worth it is Naturalizer. I was in a wedding when I was 8 months pregnant (yes, really) and needed some black sandals so I got Naturalizers. My feet really didn't hurt for the duration of the ceremony. I sat quite a bit during the reception, but all in all I ended up feeling pretty good. I also had another pair of Naturalizers, a cute Mary Jane style, that I wore to work just about every day during the last few months of my pregnancy. They were a life-saver. If I hadn't stretched them out during the pregnancy, I'd still be wearing them! As it is, I put them away until the next pregnancy. In my opinion, fashion should count a little bit when you're pregnant, though it's still a distant second to comfort...

The Crocs sound nice. I went to Chinatown and purchased some very girly flats decorated in sequins and beads. I bought four pairs - brown, green, wine, and pink. They were out of black. I loved them. They were very versatile. They were cheap, about 10 or 12 bucks a pair. The flat thing was most important for me as far as comfort. I was used to wearing lots of heels. Those definitely don't work. Otherwise, I wore my jogging shoes. Be sure and get your feet up above your head at least twice a day for 15 minutes. We should all do that as women anyway, but especially when we're with child. 20 weeks. Hey, you're halfway there! You could always go to Michael's and buy some sequins and glue them on the Crocs..:)

Hi, Shoes that look pretty nice and are comfortable are: Taryn Rose (very expensive), Munro American, Aerosoles, Easy Spirit, Mootsie's Tootsies. Most of these are carried by one or another of the major department stores like Macy's, Bloomie's, Dillard's, etc. Also a tip I got was never to stand with your knees locked, as it can block circulation and cause fainting in extreme cases. Always keep your knees slightly bent while standing for long periods. And Mother always said, "Never stand when you can sit, never sit when you can recline, and when your feet swell, lie down with your feet above your head." Always worked for me! Good luck! Grams

I highly recommend Earth shoes. I first got these b/c they have a great non-leather line (Earth Vegan), but they do leather as well. They are negative heel shoes so they keep your spine straight which really helps with the extra weight in front. They are a little pricey but totally worth it, they are all I wear now!! They have some cute styles too. I have worn them throughout my 2nd pregnancy (I'm 28 weeks now), and have had no leg cramps or anything so far!

if you're in san diego, All Vegan carries some (they are on Park Blvd near Adams ave, in University Heights). Whole Foods carries a few styles too. I also found great prices on EBay for new ones from a discount shoe store.

Good luck!

The best shoes that I found were the crocs mary janes. They were even more comfortable than even the crocs by themselves. Plus I think they're super cute!! However, make sure you get the correct size. Mine were a size too big (long story) and I tripped with them on and I sprained my ankle really bad. Thank God the baby was ok! But I loved them. I wouldn't wear anything else during the pregnancy. I know you can get them online, or I've seen a crocs booth in the Glendale Galleria. Hope this helps!!

Clark's clogs saved my life with my first pregnancy. They have a lot of support, you can slip them on without bending over and they don't pinch your feet.

My daughter is now 3 months old. When I was pregnant I was on my feet all day. I bought a pair of Crocs & they were very confortable. I didn't like the looks of them but then they came out with the MaryJane style & I thought those were cuter. They didn't hurt my feet & because they fit loosly when my feet would swell the Crocs still fit.
Good Luck.

Birkenstocks! There are so many designs and types. They have more formal shoes also. Tons to choose from in every color. They really aren't just "hippy" shoes. Those hippies were pretty smart though! They also have arch supports that you can insert into other shoes for added support. Don't forget that most feet get bigger during pregnancy. Buy something that gives you a little leeway as far as length and width. Congrats on # 2!!

Dansko's are wonderful!! I heard about them from a nurse friend of mine. They balance your weight evenly on your feet (releaving pressure points). They look like a clog but have very cute new boots also. They last a long time too, I have had my two pairs for years and still love them! They run about $110 for the clog and $230 for the boot. I am sure you can get a better deal on line but they have them at Nordstroms, then if you wear them and don't like 'em you can return them! Good luck.

Try Danskos. They are comfortable and cute! I bought mine when I was a few months pregnant and was going to London for a week. I was able to walk all over London without too much discomfort. I have worn them almost every day for the last 16 months, and have really enjoyed them.

Try clogs--they are roomy and you can take them off whenever you want (like when you are sitting down behind a desk at work). Landsend.com has a good selection of clogs, even for cold weather. Good luck!

If you are having excessive foot discomfort, I would actually recommend that you go see a podiatrist and get a perscription for orthodics. These are the inserts that are specifically made for your shoes to give your feet support. After I had my second child, I suffered from Plantar Fasciitis. The shoe inserts greatly helped me and I always wear them when I will be on my feet alot. Also, I highly recommend Dansko footwear. You can find it at Nordstroms. It is a clog style shoe that Nurses wear - so you bet it is comfortable and supportive. Are you familiar with the Maternity Belt that is available at the Motherhood store. It is the $15 you will ever spend. It is an elastic band that circles your girth and attaches via velcro underneath your baby bulge. You put it on over your underwear but under your pants. If you are sitting a lot - like a desk job, it gets kind of annoying. But, if you walk a lot or have a job that requires you to stand then it is absolutely wonderful. It provides pressure on your lower back while supporting and lifting your belly. It is the thing I would most recommend for comfort during pregnancy - that is a bit of an oxymoron but you get what I mean. Good luck.
