this recipe is almost fool proof. open a bunch of cans and a few spices. Makes a very big pot, freezes well and tastes great. http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Catherines-Spicy-Chicken-Sou...
Hi Moms!
I'm on my 4th pregnancy--32 wks pregnant. I'm already experiencing the hectic life that I will be experiencing when this 4th child is out. I was wondering if any Moms out there can recommend some recipes that I can store in the freezer for the family. Healthy, nutritious meals? Thanks for all the HELP!!!

I don't know if this is an option you're interested in, but I've been using DreamDinners.com (in Pleasanton). You go there and spend an hour making enough dinners to freeze for one or two months (as much as your freezer can accommodate). They are nutritious and reasonably priced, and you can modify them to your family's preferences.
Maybe hint for this as a baby gift, since you probably have a lot of the baby basics already :-)
Good luck,
L.
Cheesy Chicken & Rice Bake:
In 1 2-qt shallow baking dish mix: 1 can Cream of Chicken soup, 1 1/3 cups water, 3/4 cups uncooked regular white rice, 1/2 tsp onion powder, 1/4 tsp ground black pepper, 4 skinless, boneless chicken breasts. Bake at 375 for 45 mins (make sure chicken is done). Top w/1 cup shredded cheddar cheese.
Other dishes that freeze well: Shepherd's pie, easy beef stew (beef cubes, carrots, potatoes, onions), Spaghetti. Make these then freeze.
Also, Costco has some really good frozen dinners: chicken, veggies, alfredo sauce & chinese chicken & stir fry. They also have premade Chinese chicken salad (all you add is lettuce). This is in their refrigerated section. Also, I would break out your slow cooker. I'm sure you'll get some other good recipes/ideas. Congratulations!
i just tried tonight for the first time a very simple recipe, a different variation on shepherd's pie - brown/season/drain the hamburger, add a can of veggies and a can of cream/mushroom soup (or chicken or celery), put in casserole dish, top with grated cheese, then tater tots. might have to double for your big family, but tasty! and super easy. i bet if you froze it instead of baking, then you could pop it in the oven later.

honey dijon chicken-i believe that i got it from healty eats.com i think? lol but get some chicken breast and mix 1/4 cup teaspoon, 2 tablespoons ground mustard 2 tablespoons honey then spread over both sides of the chicken. bake at 375 F for 35-45 min. or until juice runs clear.(i always cut a inside the thickest part to make sure it's done.) but i would suggest maybe you prepare it and freeze it with the sauce on it so that the flavor goes all the way through to the middle! then take it out when your ready and unthaw then cook it! good luck and i hope you try it and enjoy it.
I have no idea what your family will eat, but look up crock pot recipes-- seems like many of them are easy to freeze and reheat because they are so moist, plus you often have the meat and veggies all together in one dish.....
pot roast, chili, chicken and veggies w/ sauce made w/ soup, etc
Try out one (or both) of these websites: www.thescramble.com and www.relishrelish.com. They have great meals that can be made in at least 30 mintutes and the relish site also has freezer meals. After you pick the meals you want you print them out and they also give you the shopping list of everything you need. They have saved my sanity and my pocket book! Plus my kids are starting to eat different foods (like fish and asparagus). Check the sites out and if interest you can ask for a free trial before commiting. Good luck!
spag bolognaise, apricot chicken, beef strog, home made lasagne, casseroles, good luck ur very brave going back for number 4
I use this recipe for our own family as well as a gift for others in similar circumstances. You can buy most of the ingredients in bulk and make a bunch of batches all at once to store until needed. Then take one out put it all in a pot of water with what ever extra additives you want and let it simmer until dinner time, serve with a baggett - yum!

It's supper easy to make and it's variable enough to stay interesting for a long time. Leftovers freeze well too, if you have any.
Best wishes!
You may be able to barrow from your local library or try looking online book store for: "Make-A-Mix Cookery" and "More-Make-A-Mix" By karine Eliason, Nevada Harward & Madeline Westover. It is not crockery cooking, you make large batches of mixes and then package them into dinner servings and then use the recipes that go with that mix. Usually each mix has several different recipes that go with each mix, so you dont have to hear, "Ah, we're having THAT again!", form the kids.
