My sons just made stepping stones for my MIL. They are on sale right now at Michael's for $7.99. It was a fun project. They put their handprints in and then decorated them with the marble stones (which were included in the kit) and then some mosaic glass I had leftover from another project.

My son just did a green handprint pic where the fingers turned into the stems of flowers, and then he cut out the petals of flowers from bright colored paper and glued them on. He then drew a vase at the bottom. He is younger (3), but it is one of my all-time favorite projects. I'm having him make one for the grandmas on Friday. :)

I always find great ideas on the Tip Junkie web site. Here is a link to her Mother's Day section - hope that helps!

I just saw this in a magazine....trace your child's handprint on colored paper. Cut them out and arrange them in a circle. Glue or tape a circle picture of your child in the middle, creating a flower where the hands are the petals. Attached the flower to some sort of stick or rod - not too heavy or thick. Next, have your child color or paint an empty toilet paper roll to make a vase. Stick the "flower" in the "vase" and voila - a cute personalized mom day present!

I was hoping to make a personalize stepping stone for the garden for each grandmother. I just have to find a kit! If I don't find a cement kit to put handprints in, I will just use paint. Something cute for outside!

There are tons of things on the Internet using Duct tape. Make wallets, make "bic" pens with roses on top using duct tape. It comes is all colors.
You can find it at Home Depot and even Walgreens. Patterns and how to are on You tube.

A few ideas:

pick out a pretty plant together and plant it in a nice planter, along with a homemade card.

Homemade fortune cookies (if you want a good recipe that actually works, let me know) and have 6 year old write messages about what he loves about her to put inside each fortune cookie. Michaels craft store also carries cute take-out style boxes that you could pack the cookies in.

We just painted wood picture frames. I have 3 kids (2, 4, & 5) so we got picture frames that have 3 individual hanging frames at Michaels. They were $4.99. I then bought 3 different colored paints, glitter paint, and foam brushes. I had each child paint "their frame," then I put the glitter paint as the top coat, then I put each of their pictures into it. They turned out really cute. You could get different frames...they have a a ton to choose from or use the same kind and use different pictures of your son.
