Hi M.,
I haven't fostered any kids, but I was a foster kid at one point in life, years and years ago. I thought I would tell you my experience really quick. I'm not good with names, I cannot remember half the people I knew during that time in my life, but I remember the names and faces of Joe and Darla so clearly in my head because I absolutely loved them. I came from a very troubled home and cps got involved and I ended up at their home. The love they showed me was everything I needed at that time. I know it wasn't easy for them all the time. There where other foster kids in the house that had been severely traumatized. One boy was sexually assaulted by his dad and he would all of the sudden have anger fits, he would then start moaning really loud, then he would start crying and hitting himself, it was really scary. They where really patient though, they would wait until his episode was over with and would then slowly start talking to him. You have to have a very understanding heart, put yourself in their shoes. If I could foster kids, I would without a second thought.
