Hi
A few weeks back I noticed a colony of ants moving around near the car doorwalls and hinges. They seems to be moving along the doorwalls and the small nooks near the car door.I did vacuum the car yesterday hoping that should take care of the problem , thinking that the ants got attracted by the cookie bites that my two year old drops when he eats in the car.But they were still there this morning and I am not able to find out where the source is .Can I use any pest control product ?? Any suggestion on how to get rid of them will be great.

Thanks for the advice.

What can I do next?

We just found ants in our boys bedroom window, which is next to their beds. We used Raid household bug spray (we already had it but had never used it around the kids). We sprayed it while the kids were downstairs eating dinner and opened the window. By the time they went to bed a few hours later the ants where done and so was the smell. We sprayed again a few days later to make sure there gone for good. so you might be able to use that in the car. Good luck. Seeing you post gets me thinking my own car and all of crumbs I have!

Coincidentally, I just got an email from a friend that says NutraSweet kills ants. Sometimes, you have to wet it with juice or water to get them to eat it...but supposedly it works better than anything else!

Hi, There:

I would not recommend a bug spray in an enclosed area such as a car. The chemicals in that stuff hang around for a long time...

Ants can be safely killed in carpeting (and many other places) by application of diatomaceous earth (DE), available at any gardening or pool supply store. DE is a powder made of the ground-up shells of little marine animals called diatoms. Its used in pool filters and in gardening to stop crawling insects. It is NOT a chemical...it works by getting into the joints of the ants' exoskeletons and rendering them unable to move. Just do a really good vacuuming of the area, then sprinkle on the DE all over the carpet. Leave it overnight (or as long as you can without people walking on it), and then re-vacuum.

My family uses it exclusively for pest control.

Best,
L.

I have never tried this, but I have heard that it works. Take about half and half...half viniger and half water and mix it together and wipe where you are seeing the ants....Hope this helps.
