Another Stroller question...Joovy Caboose????

I'm having my third baby in Oct, and am thinking about getting a Joovy Caboose (or the Ultralight Caboose). I have a 5 yr. and a 4 yr. old who I'd like to be able to offer the option of riding as it always seems that the younger one wants to be held after short distances. I'm also thinking it will help me to contain the three better. My question is to anyone who has one: What do you think of it? Do you have older kids? Mine are just about at the weight limit now (45 lbs), but can they still ride back there? What do you like about it/what don't you like about it? Any insight would be helpful. Even other stroller recommendations. I'm really looking for lightweight, compact, easy to maneuver.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Well... I really wanted to like this stroller, but my older kids are already at the weight limit for the back seat. Also, I just think the front seat might not be that cozy for the new little one, and therefore not worth it considering that the older two really wouldn't be using it. So, back to my search for the ever elusive perfect stroller! Thanks for your thoughts.

Hi C.,
I own a Joovy and it's great! I have three boys-6,3,and 18mos. The little guy always rides up front and the other two are very competitive about who gets to ride in the back. It can be pretty long when it's folded up, but fits well in the back of my minivan. I love it!

I bought our Joovy Caboose two years ago when my second baby was born. We still use it today and it has held up very well. The two things I don't like about mine are 1) the hard-to-get-to storage space under the back seat and 2) the back seat doesn't lock so my four year old slides back and forth on it. But comparatively to the other double strollers we looked at, we liked this one the best and I would still recommend it.

Hi. I have it and have been disappointed a bit. My oldest is almost 3 and the youngest is now 1, so I'm not in exactly the same spot as you. It's okay, but not perfect. The storage underneath is horrible - there isn't much room and it's hard to reach. Also, as someone said, it can be difficult to get the baby out as the front tray is locked in place. If you need lots of storage, this might not be what you need. I'm guessing 4- and 5-year-olds don't really need a lot stored, though. It is lightweight and seems to maneuver just fine - I just use it to walk to our nearby park or if we're at an event where the toddler may not want to walk a lot. When I'm out for super long walks, then I bring out my double jogging stroller, but it's too wide for malls and events. There are my two cents!

I have this stroller and absolutely love it! I have 2 boys ages 4 and 2 and purchased this stroller when my kids were 1 and 3. After having been through a lot of strollers, this is the perfect one! It contains both kids perfectly, but still allows my older when to hop on and off when he wants to. I loved the front snack tray for the younger one to eat his food on the go. I ended up purchasing an all black one from babies r us online and also purchased the optional parent organizer, which I absolutely love. After 1 year the stroller is in as good of shape as ever and has held up wonderfully. Only advice I can offer is that the oldest child should be at least 3 before you buy it as the back seat of the stroller doesn't offer a lot of support for leaning back, sleeping etc. Only complaint I do have is that the front seat only reclines slightly and it can be difficult to get a child in and out since the front tray cannot be removed. I highly recommend this stroller!

Hi!! We just got home from a cinco de mayo parade and festival and the joovy did great. I have a 16 month old and a 21 month old (but is 37 pounds:-) and both took turns sitting in the front and standing in the back. My only complaint is that it was hard to steer, loaded with kids, and with one hand on grass. It also doesn't have a ton of storage room, but I am not sure that there is a stroller out there that will answer all our needs (and that doesn't need financing:-) I especially like our joovy because it is light enough to quickly unload and maneuver through Target, but can also handle the outdoor festivals. Spend the extra to get the ultralight, as it is lighter and the shade is larger. Thus far, we have run into the ground, and it still looks brand new...Also love that I usually have the only orange stroller, which makes it easy to find in a crowd!! You might want to compare the size with the groovy 2 or the Big Caboose, because BOTH kids can recline and sleep. Also, I ordered mine from Albeebaby.com and got a free parent organizer (neopreen holder that attaches), and it is a MUST!!

I love my Ultralight Joovy Caboose! I have 5 yr, 3yr (4 in a couple of weeks) and 2 year old. My 5 yr. old who weighs over 50 lbs has ridden in both seats. It is very lightweight, folds easily and is very easy to steer even with 2 kids in it. The sun shade and feeding tray come on and off very easily and many times I remove them to make the stroller extra light. It looks more like a wagon when I do and I get a lot of other parents asking me what kind of stroller it is and asking where to get it. Also the orignizer accessory is a must. It is a great place to put keys, sunglasses and carry two water bottles.

I have a caboose, but I don't use it much anymore. My oldest is almost 4, and fairly tall for her age (43 inches and 40 lbs). She still fits on the stroller, but would rather walk most of the time. For short trips it's much easier for us to use our single stroller for just the little one (now 14 mos). When she gets tired though, she wants to ride on the joovy (almost always standing!) I really loved it when my son was a newborn. I could keep them both in the stroller (and safe) when we were in parking lots or other places I didn't want my older one running around. Like any double stroller it takes up more space than a single stroller, but for the price and for older kids it's great. It's pretty easy to manuver in stores. Now we mostly use it for long trips like to Disneyland or the zoo or aquarium. It also held our Evenflo baby carrier pretty securely. If you buy this stroller, you really need to get the joovy parent organizer that holds a cup and other misc stuff because otherwise you have no where to put your stuff.

I have the Joovy (not ultralight) and also a side by side. My boys are 1 and 3. The Joovy is great because the kids sit back-to-back and don't fight or grab things from each other. It's much easier in stores. Compared to the side by side, the joovy is much harder to push and turn - nearly impossible with a cup of coffee or a phone in my hand. Neither child can nap in the Joovy because the seats aren't comfortable enough. That said, I usually choose to take the joovy for the one-mile walk to school because I have great conversations with my older son while we walk because he is facing me. Get the ultralight, this thing is heavy.

C., we love our Caboose, but my kids are a bit smaller than yours. I've got an almost 4 year old and a 16 month old. The Caboose was really fabulous when the little one was smaller--we have found it to be pretty maneuverable, the baby seat fit in it great, and my older daughter loved having the option of sitting, standing, or walking on her own. Cargo space is a little limited because it has go to under the seat in the back (which means that if your second child is sitting, you can't get to stuff very easily.) It's pretty easy to get in and out of our car (we have a small suv), and overall we've been really pleased. Good luck to you..and congratulations! K.

I just got this stroller and really like it. I have a one year old and a 4 1/2 year old, who LOVES having his own space to ride. It's quite sturdy, so I think he'll be able to ride for quite some time. It's great for me too as it allows me to move a bit more quickly at times when my eldest is tired or just distracted. I guess it's pretty light compared to other double strollers, but it's MUCH heavier than my Peg Perego Classico. Good storage basket underneath.
