Not all #7 plastics have BPA, but just to be on the safe side you can avoid them all. The real danger of BPA is leeching into the milk which is caused by excessive wear on the ploycarbonate bottles and super heating. As long as you don't microwave your bottles and replace them when they get scratched up your child should be relataively healthy.
Dr. Browns came out with glass bottles and are also coming out with BPA free polypropelene bottles in the future. Their soft plastic parts are BHA free. My son hardly spits up or has gas on these bottles. I currently use the BHA bottles I bought in a set when he was born and plan on replacing the hard plastic bottles with the glass ones in the future. I never nuke them and wash them carefully and inspect them before use for scratches. I love them but they do take a little more effort to clean as they have the air resevoir which has two extra parts.
I feel the same way about trying to live a healthier, cleaner lifestyle within my finanical means. I'm trying to do it too. I think people should use a bit of common sense when approaching these issues and try to balance what we do. Our parents all raised us on BPA bottles and we're okay. People should be more scared of the cholrine and absorbant gels used in disposable diapers but they're such a convience in our lives we don't consider their danger as much.
