My Dh adn I will be celebrating our 1st wedding anniversary in June. We weren't able to have a honeymoon. Since I am pregnant, we are looking for someplace inexpensive fun and not to far. Ideally, I am lookign for someplace that has more to offer than just sitting by a pool or on a beach all day or a high priced theme park. My dh would like to find a hotel with "themed rooms". Any suggestions or personal experiences you would like to share? Thanks

What can I do next?

When I was pregnant we made a day trip to St. Augustine and had a wonderful time. I highly reccomend it. Also, Gaylord Palms in Orlando may have the themed thing you are looking for. I don't know about the rooms having themes, but I know areas of the hotel have themes- key west, etc.

How about St. Augustine? There are B&B's and the beach along with shops and dining.

Personally, in your situation I would want to spend two or three days at Chalet Suzanne. It is a beautiful and romantic place with a kind of European charm. Each room in the hotel is different, and perhaps if you call them and ask them about the rooms they have available they could describe them to you and you could pick one. The hotel is near Cypress gardens park which has been renewed and offers some of the most beautiful flower sculptures in the state.

We like the Inn at Cocoa Beach a lot. It is a large B&B on the ocean and at least one of the rooms has a hot tub. (Not sure what kind of "theme" you're looking for...)
Kennedy Space Center and Canaveral Seashore are both close by and there's the for something interesting to do. And there's a nice nature place where you can birdwatch from your care called: Black Point Wildlife Drive, across from Canaveral National Seashore, SR 402, East of Titusville

I highly recommend St. Augustine. It is less than a 2 hour drive from Central FL and is such a neat place to visit. There are a number of really great B&B's (I have personally stayed at the Kenwood Inn twice and loved it) right in the heart of the historic district. Since you are preggers, you can opt for a trolley pass for sight seeing around town without having to hoof it all day. Lots of great shopping, restaurants, museums, beaches, and tours. Not far away and many of the B&B's offer great summer discounts after Memorial Day. Happy Anniversary!

Im not sure where you live or how far you want to travel, if you want to email me, Ill let you know of some suggestions, my husband and I traveled ALOT before the baby! St. Augustine is always a great little weekend getaway, there are a couple B&B's in Hollywood, Miami, New Smyrna - and St. Marys is awsome - Cumberland Island, and Honeymoon Island on the West Coast is cool too.

St. Augustine and Key West are great places to go. They both have great character and are not too expensive. Key West can be a bit of a jaunt though, but still fun. Both places have nice tours and great things to see, and lots of history in both places. Fun times! Or, if you want to put this much effort into it, there are a few books at the library on Florida historical spots and you could check out those places. I can't remember the names of the books, but I am sure they would be easy to find. :) Good luck!
