Hi Moms

For the past week I have started having pain in my left ankle and left side of my lower back. I'm not sure if they're related but it's really bothering me and I have no medical insurance to just go get it checked out.
I've been taking motrin daily but it doesn't seem to do anything to relieve the pain. We also have hardwoods I walk around on all day but we did at our last house to for over 2 years and I had no problems there.
I have no swelling, just an achy pain that would remind me of what arthritis would feel like but I'm only 25 yrs old! I'm tired of walking around feeling like an old lady! : )
Any clue to what this could be?
TIA for taking the time to help me out.

What can I do next?

Hello,

I am 37 and have had on and off back trouble; nothing that has not been fixable or fixed itself thankfully. I would really go see a chiropractor. I would want to go to someone who was highly recommended. A good one will work with you if you do not have insurance and should charge you one flat rate that is affordable. I go to Traxler in Rowlett and I have also heard of a Dr. Buffington in Rockwall. I am sure there are a lot in your area but I would ask around and go to one that is recommended. I have had great experiences w/ them; where as all a medical Dr. would want to do is have me try drugs for a while.

Maybe you could try some extra support in your shoes for a few days. You might need arch support. ?

K., the pain in your back could be sciatica. The sciatic nerve (the longest in your body) runs across your lower back and down the back of each thigh. There are lots of reasons for sciatica and you really need to have it checked out by a doctor. The pain in your ankle could be caused by walking to accommodate the pain in your back, or it could be something totally unrelated. I understand the problem with paying as I don't have insurance, either. However, since you live in Garland you can go to the Baylor Family Medical Center at North Garland (located on North Garland Rd @ 190) and they offer a 30% discount to uninsured patients. Their office number is ###-###-####. I see Dr. David Bragg & his P.A.C., Rhonda Manessier and they're both wonderful, caring people. They'll take time to figure out what the problem is and they never make you feel rushed. Until you can see a doctor, try a heating pad or an ice pack for 15 minutes at a time. I'm in constant pain and I know how tedious it gets. I'll say a prayer for you and I wish you the best! S.
