My niece is turning 7 in a few days and all she wants is American Girl stuff. My brother has already bought her a doll and my parents got her a coordinating outfit. She is also getting a matching PJ's set. What else would be good for a 'starter' set? Clothes, accessories, furniture??
Maybe you can just take her and her new doll to the Bistro and have lunch together & let her pick something out in the store. I think they have special high chairs for the "babies".
There is an American Girl store located at the Galleria area.
As for what to add, I have no clue. My 13 yr old never got into the Americal Girl dolls, however, she did enjoy some of the books.
There is a tote that my daughter absolutely wanted last christmas but they were sold out. Just a thought. Also, they have books for some of the dolls. I hope that she enjoys it.

We love the books! Each doll has a book series with 5 or 6 books. You can find the set of books and a little version of the doll at the AG store, or I have found them at Sams occasionally for about $30. The other favorite would be an outfit for the doll, or the hair styling video.
If he already bought the doll, then the next must have for my daughter would be the accessory pack, there is a kit for each girl. (Usually around 30.00) This is quickly becoming an expensive hobby in my house. If you go to the store- it is amazing- you will be so overwhelmed with choices. Find out which girl her got and there will be a section in the store with all her stuff. Good luck and have fun!
When my daughter was into the American Girl, she loved to dress her up over and over so outfits are always great. I remember getting her an American girl brush & comb set and there was the cutest little American Girl puppy with a little house. Hope these suggestions help.
