There is a place called Galla in Grapevine Mills Mall that has tons of formal dresses. I don't go anywhere else.
Best suggestion I can come up with would be David's Bridal. They have all kinds of dresses to choose from and you can get some really great deal there. Good luck!
hi, I'm a pageant girl and we like our formals! and several of us even are full busted, if you want to shop from home there is a website called www.pageantresale.com that has great gowns and cocktail dresses, for great prices, the gowns are listed by price to help keep you in your price range. or if you let me know your size and price range I may have something that will work for you, if not I've got lots of friends that may be your size... the down size is that you can't try things on, so it helps to know your size, but the pageant girls are usually very good to help you with how it will fit...
best of luck, and please feel free to contact me in case I have something that will work for you.
in not sure what size you wear but i have 2 of them that i have onlt worn once each.. i also have large busts if you are interested and would like more info just send me a message.
I've always found nice affordable dresses at Dress Barn for special occassions!
I have always found great dresses (REASONABLY priced) at Neiman Marcus. I never fail to find something there. They have alterations on the spot.
I also have large natural perky 34DD breasts and I wear a size 2. Most of the time, whatever I buy is altered. It is hard for me to find clothes because of my boobs, but I am enjoying it.
Other sources are Special Occasion Dresses, Whatchamacallit dresses. I've noticed recently that some formal dress shops are in the malls.
Don't rule out the Nordstrom, Neimans for great products. The store names can be intimidating but they do have good products.
Good morning, M.,
I can definitely help you. My business is custom clothing and I specialize in formal wear and in fitting the "hard to fit". (I am also busty.) I can come to your home for a consultation and for fittings, so there's no need for a babysitter. I work around your schedule and can come when it's convenient to you.
I am very modestly priced and can make any style/color you choose, instead of being stuck with what's available on the rack in your size.
You can view my work on my website www.bmgoriginals.com .
Please give me a call at ###-###-#### and let's talk.

HI M.,
Not sure exactly what you're looking for, but i was a bridesmaid not long ago and wore a pink two piece halter and long skirt from Davids... it has a brown sash under the bust. (i'm well gifted in that area also so i understand) anyway, since i got it for a wedding, i'd be more than happy to let you have it. let me know... i might be able to scan you a pic or something.
I just had to go find one this past weekend and found one at Dillard's outlet for about $30. The original price was $150. Not sure if there is one in Irving, but the one I went to was at Six Flags mall in Arlington off Division. Good luck.
Half of Half has terrific buys, if you can find something to fit you there.
While you're at Grapevine Mills Mall check out Group USA. They have a ton of formal wear!
I don't know where you are, but I find the best deals at Neiman Marcus Last Call store at Grapevine Mills. I am a large busted woman also and I like to wear things that don't look like everyone else.
M.,
Thanks for posting this. I too need a bridesmaid dress for September and did not want to spend a ton. Thanks for asking this question. I hadn't thought to do this!
Also, a friend of mine had suggested Dress Barn. She said they have many of the formals that Dillards, JCPenny's etc., carry, but for a much better price.

Ross actually has formal dresses for really cheap :) I have a teenage daughter & we shop there for prom & misc. dance dresses. They have all different styles from short to long. Good luck!
Consignment stores are a good place to look .Good luck

I rented mine. I had to have a formal dress for a wedding and i called around to a few bridal shops and found some that rented formal gowns/dresses as well. It saved me money and they had lots of sizes. Plus i wasnt stuck with a gown i'll never wear again.
Craigslist has tons of wedding dresses. Just put in the size you need and click search.
If you are short on time to get out and look, as I often am with a 21 month old.....you may try ordering something on-line with Macys. Their return policy is up to 180 days so if it does not fit there is no immediate pressure to return so quickly. End of summer nearing so many items are going on sale.
M.,
If at all possible, do not take your son with you. It will be way too difficult to look for a dress with him there. Is there any way you could do a babysitting swap with a friend? This way, babysitting is free. Does your husband work at night? If not, go at night, since the malls are open until 9:30. However, if he does work at night, he gets one or two nights off a week, right? Go on his nights off!
definitely check out resale shops, as well as tj maxx and ross dress for less. great stuff there for all sizes and budgets. the right tailor can adjust straps/etc for the right fit. you have gotten some great advice!
I Love shopping at Nordstrom's and the service at the NorthPark store is exceptional. Last year at this time I was looking for a formal dress for our 20th anniversary dinner and really went in with price is no object, this is special, whatever looks great I'll buy type of mentality. You wouldn't believe the deals they have this time of year! I told the first person who asked if I needed help my size and the areas I wanted to camoflauge or emphasize...she picked out about 20 dresses and I have to say, her taste was amazing and she selected many dresses off the sales rack. The dress I purchased was perfect, marked down A LOT and I was in and out in under an hour. I highly suggest going to a department store, it was a very enjoyable shopping experience for me, and I HATE shopping for myself! good luck!!
You may want to consider joining Freecycle.org for whatever city you are located. I have donated 2 formal dresses to people needing them for occasions, in the past. It's free to join and it's a great way to get rid of things you no longer need, but are too good to throw away. Enjoy!
check on-line David's Bridal- they have very pretty dresses and are very reasonable, if you order now then you have time to receive and try it on.
