I wouldn't think it could be athlete's foot especially if she's not scratching. When I get peely skin I use Eucerin cream with Alpah Hydroxy. It works really well, and is very gentle and soothing. I also use emu oil that works good as well.
My daughter is eight months old and her feet are pealing really bad, it looks almost like althetes foot. they dont smell they are just really peely. Has anyone ever dealt with this before?

Your daughter has eczema, as the first woman posted. I had it as a baby, my sister had it, my daughter has it - we have sensitive skin, and still get little patches of eczema on our toes to this day. Talk to your pediatirican, and he/she will give you a perscription to make it go away - you cannot give rid of it with over the counter rememdies, you must see your doctor. Especially if it is something more serious, it is important to have her seen.
I had eczema when I was little, My daught has mild eczema and my nephew Davion has a severe case of it, but I've personally never seen it peeley, Our looked like patches of rough bumpy skin, when you scratch it, it can/will bleed because like any rash, the more you scratch it, the more it itches. With my nephew nothing hes tried works, My daughter gets nightly rub downs of Johnsons baby cream right out of the bath, that seems to do the trick with her, but her ped. told me to try the cortizone 1/2% to help with the outbreak or the 1% if there was no differance, if after that theres no change she said she'd perscribe something, The cortizone is a steroid if you didnt know. She said it was okay to use when she was about 5 months old (thats when we started seeing it) so im more than sure its okay to use on your 8 month old, but you should always call and talk to a nurse or your doctor to make sure. Try out the baby cream method first, see how that works. Its not the lotion, its in a pink stand up tube, we like the cream better because its thicker and seems to absorb better into her skin, the lotion seems to be too watery to me. Hope this helps!
I have a 9 month old son. I took him to the doctors because he had dry spots of skin, which started on his arm and was spreading, at the time he was 5 months old. He ended up having eczema, so maybe thats something to look into.
Yes, like some of the other mothers said it's a form of eczema. My son has had it every since he was a baby. I remember when he was a newborn picking the skin out of his toes. It didn't get real bad for him until he was I think 2 1/2. The doctor had us use aveeno lotion but it didn't work. Because our daughter had sever eczema we used her lotion. JOHNSON AND JOHNSON BABY ECZEMA CREAM. We put it on his toes right after a bath and then but socks on. It works. He is now 5 he still has break out with it. Hope this works.
Hi Trish,
my daughter had the same problem - put a little powder(cornstarch) in her socks and her footed pajamas to help absorb the sweat.
make sure to use lotion on her feet to help with the dry skin.
don't buy her cheap shoes - only real leather
don't forget to ask your pediatrician during your next visit just to rule out anything more serious. it doesn't sound like athelets foot to me - her feet are probably just growing.
does she go barefoot alot? if not you might want to try that for a bit. Sometimes the sweat buildup can cause really stinky feet and can even cause the peeling. Also try rubbing lotion on her feet at night time.

Her feet might just be growing, my son did the same thing but his hands and feet peeled like he had leporsy. The doctor just told us to lotion and lotion some more.
Hello! yes, my son has had continuous problems with his toes like that. We and the doctors believe it's eczema. They gave us anti-fungal, but I don't know about an 8-month old. Try vaseline which is what I've been using lately. Good luck!
Athletes foot is something that hurts, and is red and yuckie. Maybe herfeet need to dry out a little. Take off her socks and let them air out. Unless they are all red and painful I think she is just shedding some skin.
Hi Trish,
My daughter had the same strange skin going on. I took her to her Dr. and she said it's sort of like "thrush", but on her feet as they are moist and in the dark where all that yeast loves to grow. I would recommend that you talk with your Dr. about this as you DO NOT want it spread to her mouth -- painful!! Good luck!

Dear Trish,
No, I don't think that it is Athlete' foot. Probably it is very normal. Get on the Pediatric's website and got for 'skin' problems.
It is so great that you are a single mom and going to college in the fall. You two will be quite a team during your life together. Good Luck, C. N.
Hi,
My son 20 months now had that when he was younger. He got it in all different parts of his body. I believe their skins just do that at first or she ate something she may be allergic to. The best products that help my son with skin problems is Baby Aveeno Lotion called Soothing Relief (Dark Blue cap tube) and also get the Body Wash with a blue cap.
Here just click this to see what the products
