Brownies count also and ask the teacher then for more info.
Hi - All families were asked to bring a dozen cookies to share on the snack table for pre-school graduation. I don't want to bring cookies. Any other ideas? I would need an item that can be dropped off in the morning & would keep/stay fresh until 10 am and would not require utensils. Thanks everyone!
Thanks to Beth for the great suggestion! I am going to make some cute mini-muffins to add some variety!

Hi A.,
What about a fruit tray, with some sliced apples, kiwis and strawberries, chunked pineapples and some grapes? That should all stay for you and you won't need utensils.
Maybe those little clementine oranges?
How about Rice Krispies Treats.
If they asked for cookies, maybe you should bring cookies. If not maybe go to sams or coscto and buy a box of individual snacks?
why not little bags of popcorn?
You could do brownies or even muffins like blueberry, chocolate chip, apple cinnamon. My daughter always liked the muffins for birthday treats at school when she was younger.
How about cone cupckaes? It's the non-messy, fully edible version of a cupcake. You pour the batter into a flat bottom ice cream cone (just the "stem" part(=), it rises into the rounded area and then you ice it. Kids love it!!!
individual bags of trail mix, but i'm with the others on bringing what was asked.
If it's the sugar factor make or buy something that is reduced sugar. Fig Newtons or oatmeal no-bakes somethign on that order. the are probably doing a little cookie reception so that's why i say bring cookies.

Hi A.!
How about cutting up a fresh pineapple, watermelon or strawberries? You could cube them up and put toothpicks on the pieces so they are easy to pick up. Healthy, delicious finger food! I am sure the preschool has a refrigerator. Or, you could do cubed cheese and crackers. Kids/adults love that too. Kudos to you for thinking outside the "cookie" box! I am SO TIRED of everyone doing cookies for EVERYTHING!!!!! Good Luck!
If you don't want to take cookies, then you should ask the pre-school teacher if you can bring something else. If cookies is what all the parents are making , then I would go with it. THere are so many recipes for many different kinds of cookies.
How about rice krispie squares? They are easy, will stay fresh, and other moms won't be upset that you didn't actually bring a "cookie." Best of all worlds.
P.S. I saw that other posters said to ask the teacher. While doing that, see if there are any allergies in the class. In our preschool we had, peanut, nut, milk and gluten. I know the Moms of these kids spend countless amounts of time baking things for their kids because generally the parents don't even think about it and the kid has to sit in a corner eating nothing with his or her friends...just a thought.
I have a dessert I make called Almost Clarkbars. Try googling the name for the recipe, or msg me and I'll get it to you. They are a hit!
Maybe the teacher is going to send home one of each kind of cookie with the kids. She might have a reason for asking for cookies.
I agree with the 2 posters whom said talk to the teacher. If they asked for cookies then they must want cookies. Let the teacher give you an alternative.
What about fruit? Strawberries, grapes, other berries that can be eaten with fingers. I think it's a great idea to have an alternative choice.
you can do fruit kabobs with strawberries, marshmellows, pinapple and any other cut-up fruit.
or make your own snack mix and provide little cups so they can scoop it out:
pretzel sticks, cereal, cheese crackers, m&m's, mini marshmellows.
GOOD LUCK!!!!
Try these mini PB & J Blossom Sandwiches, and maybe use cokoies instead of bread
These cute sandwiches made with peanut butter and jelly (or cream cheese and jelly, or any other fillings) are perfect for parties, lunch boxes, or snacks. RECIPE INGREDIENTS:
Bread
Peanut butter or cream cheese
Jelly or jam
Water bottle cap
1. For each sandwich, cut two slices of bread into flower shapes with a cookie cutter.
2. Cut a hole in one of the slices by pressing a water bottle cap into the center.
3. Spread the peanut butter and jelly on the whole piece and place the slice with the hole on top.
Good Luck, A.
A.,
You don't say why you don't want to bring cookies, but I'm guessing it's because you are looking for a healthier alternative. How about fruit? You could do small bunches of grapes, strawberries or orange slices. Any of those can be pre-washed, cut and keep for a few hours without being refrigerated and no utensils needed.
I agree that you should check with the teacher first. If she agrees, you can send muffins instead. I have plenty of low sugar recipes. message me if you're interested.
How about mini muffuns or Rice Krispy Treats, just make sure to check the alergies in the class. Good Luck!
