there is a topical benadryl that worked really well when I got poison ivy last fall and didn't want to be drowsy from taking an oral medication. You should be able to find it at any drug store or wal-mart. I got mine at target.
For no reason at all, I broke out in hives last night on my neck, back and crotch areas. It lasted about an hour and they went away on their own. Today, I've had them in the same areas, but for a few hours and they are worse today. I've broken out for no reason before when my DD was a newborn so I know it'll pass, I just hate how drugged up and sleepy benedryl makes me.
I've not used any new products or eated anything new.
Can I use anything elso to make them go away?
I'm waiting for a call from the doc.

zrytec works quicker and with no Zzzz's
best is topical benedryl AND zyrtec pill.
Zyrtec is great for hives.
Claritin
Will you be going to the Doctor? Or know what causes it?
Have you tried Benedryl Topical creme? My daughter & I get hives and we put it on and the itch goes away.
Hope this helps!
Zyrtec is the way to go
Oh, how miserable! I hope you find something that works for you.
I've gotten tremendous, almost instant results from homeopathy. It is reputed to work well for about 8 out of 10 people who try it, with no side effects at all for most remedies.
There are a few different remedies that can work for hives or other allergic-like reactions, and what works best for one person may not be the best for another – you have to look at the whole "symptom picture" and find the one that matches you the best. Here's a pretty simple overview: http://www.ehow.com/how_###-###-####_treat-hives-homeopat... .
I also get wonderful relief from two different topical creams, Florasone and Sting-Stop, for all kinds of itches and irritations. Both are available at healthy-food stores. Sting-stop is invaluable for insect bites, even in children, so it's a handy thing to have in your medicine chest.
Loratadine is great. It's non-drowsy and does the trick.
Claritin or colloidal silver
Claritin works just as well!
I had hives for no reason at all a few months back, itchy, miserable!! I went to the MD and she said you can get hives sometimes from a virus. She prescribed me steroids for a week and they were gone the next day. Dont know if that helps you :)
Are you getting overly sweaty in those areas by any chance?
Pull your hair up, wear a white cotton t-shirt, no panties.
Benadryl will make you drowsy, for sure.
Have you tried getting into a baking soda bath?
My daughter got hives that weren't allergy related. Benadryl helped her. I also washed her in baking soda and made a paste for the bumps.
They were always gone the next morning.
Mysteriously, they went away and even with allergy testing, we never found out what caused them.
Hang in there!
